NSW Cup 2025

Club appear to agree. Given he starts at lock this week moving Matto onto an edge.

Can he continue to impress?
I believe that’s because Dunford (who was starting in the second row for the first two weeks) is suspended this week, pushing Matterson to second row and Navale to lock. But nevertheless, hopefully he keeps that starting spot now and pushes his way into the 22 man first grade squad within the next few weeks. Definitely been our standout player in NSW cup so far.

You beauty. Hope they can go on now they broke the monkey. Might suggest a bigger older middle just might make that little difference to that team. Will be a good game to watch how Sips went actually.

Noticed MCK only played 20 minutes, did he pick up an injury or head knock?

The club made an early call on letting Zac Fulton go the UK last season I wonder if there is any thought of moving a couple of players on that are in the 30 soon so they can free up a spot or two in the 30 before June 30.

How did Asitasi James go?

Got this from the match report, looks like Zaidas caught the eye,

Talking points:

The home side showed grit to get back into the contest with improved possession of the ball and good field position but lost the ball often when mounting a serious attack. They’ll need to be more clinical in those moments to beat teams more consistently.

Manly’s hooker on debut Zaidas Muagututia had limited minutes off the bench, but proved an injection of fresh pace with serious potential as he helped speed up the ruck and subsequent attack from the Sea Eagles side.

Agree about Zaidas - looked VERY likely.

Navale gave a relentless display. Tackled everything non-stop. Also displays surprising speed off the mark. Reckon he is an excellent prospect. Stands out in this club.
BTW two other observations: Chee-Kam looked disinterested and uninvolved throughout his stay, eventually went off with a leg injury.
Pua-Avase got little match time which was disappointing - as I reckon he is a definite prospect as a rangy, running second rower.

I was wondering why MCK only played 20 minutes, thanks for that.

Dunford back this week from suspension.

I also liked Navale's involvement. Has leg speed and a passing game. There's a bit of the young Jurbo in his game. Maybe quicker but not quite the level of tackling Jake had/has. He can't be too far off. I also thought Chee Kam was off (I thought that in round 1 as well). Felt like he was just going through the motions. I also liked what I saw from the limited time Pua-Avase had. I was wondering why he didn't get more time. I also thought Patolo went ok.

I was asked about Sykes yesterday and I couldn't remember seeing him out there - he didn't play, right?

Edit: just an aside, it was good to write something that didn't involve DCE @:D
