NRL to trial two new technologies to help detect forward passes

I don't understand why it's such a hard part of the game to ref...
I can sit home on the couch sucking down tinnies of iron jack and be able to see the forward passes the minute they leave the hands... Pretty sure 99% if you lot can too ..
Esp when they show replays 5 million times before each try is confirmed .. so maybe just put me in the bunker and save a few million bucks...

Just a thought
Absolutely agree....if you're at the ground it's an instantaneous 'forward" from 70 % of the crowd.when one is thrown. Ifs so ingrown into footy watchers it's an easy pick up.
Had to laugh last year when Cam Smith got done for a forward pass and argued that it was flat. Referee came back with...theyre supposed to be backward.
Smith never quite got it.

The ref has too much to do already. Imagine trying to remember the names of all the players in both teams. And now they have an 18th name per team to remember.
It's the Touchies who should be responsible for forward passes, knock-ons and knock-backs. Let's leave the important issues such as correct pronunciation of Pacifica names to the man with the whistle.
