Crusher didnt set the world on fire at the dogs exactly.
I would hazard a guess they had more players debut for them via their own system than poached from rival NYC clubs.

That's been our problem since he left. We bought Peta Hiku,,Ligi Sao, MCK, Hasson. We haven't had stars brought in at 16 or 17 and shown what playing for manly means amongst our talented locals.

The reality of the 20's is that unless you have a large production line of young juniors in your "local area" like Warriors, Penrith, NQ, Brisbane, and Parramatta coming thru every year, you are forced to "buy" talent, often at 15/16 years old.

This is most often a 4 year commitment/risk as you generally have to relocate, school, house and pay them, and that becomes an expensive gamble.

Most clubs with a small junior base can't afford to have top imported juniors in each age so are forced into cyclical system were they concentrate an age group and hope that every 3/4 years a group of 19/20 year olds all peak at the same time. That is exactly what happened with Foran/DCE/Buhrer/Hoppa etc.

When they left the 20's it was always going to be 4/5 years before the next competitive team.

Yeah you've missed the point. Not about our juniors, more about the players brought into our junior system before the U20 NYC production line. And before that players scouted from far and wide.

When we were a force it seemed like we had a thousand young bloods keen and ready to step up.

Now all we hear is second chance super stars.
Crusher has a network right around the country

Can you even tell us who our current recruitment officer is?

A nice lady named Mrs Uate

Read another article today about Des returning. Looks like the press are going to run with it all season anyways regardless if it is legit.

This numpty can't write.

"Des Hasler will be the first coach they will be chasing to help Manly become a power house was again, like they were when Hasler was last at the reign in the Norther Beaches"

"Powerhouse" is one word. There is a stray "was".

"At the reign" is a mistake borne of ignorance. The term is "at the reins", meaning to be in control of a horse or carriage.

"Reign" is to be royally in charge. "At the reign" is a conflation.

"Norther Beaches" - maybe s/he means the beaches north of the Bilgola Bends?

Can we please stop linking to this fool?

I still can't see how Des "Control Freak" Hasler would work well with Bob "Control Freak" Fulton if he does come back to Manly.

It worked when Des was a player and Bozo was the coach because Des knew who was boss. But Des as coach is a much different situation as we know.

I can't see Des coming back to Manly unless he knows that he'll be calling the shots without backroom interference.
Totally 100% agree. There is no way Des would work with Bozo and Zorba pulling the strings.
