What people who play the racism card at every turn don't realise, is that taking the piss stereotypes like mahatma coat and Billy birminghams 12th man, are actually celebrations of diversity. It is the Australian way to take the piss out of everyone, themselves included. Everyone is free to have a laugh with and at each other. It's how people have come together in this country over the years. I can just about guarantee you that no Indian would have taken offense at mahatma, but the self appointed moral police on the left decide to take offense on their behalf. In most cases it is simply virtue signaling, nothing more. Collectively, as a society, we are all poorer for it.

Wogs are the classic example of a group collectively taking a slur and wearing it as a badge of honour and taking the sting out of it. Any time I lean even slightly on my woggy heritage my wife notices and will jokingly call me a "dirty wog" and it always makes me laugh.

The problem with the Footy Show is how they approach it. They aim low and it's quite evident. No matter what, a bad joke is a bad joke and when something is delivered by an idiot like Beau Ryan, it will always be a bad joke because he isn't smart enough to do something clever.

You know, I have no problem with trying to attract more women to the game be they spectators, administrators, television commentators or players. No problem with that whatsoever. Unfortunately though, Ch.9 a lot of times tends to forget that this game survived and thrived for 100 years as a blokes game watched mostly by blokes.

While trying to get women into the game, lets not lose sight of the fact that there are men out there too.

Yes a joke can be offensive and funny without being racist.

Racist is way too broad a term now days. You cant vote for a politician anymore without being labelled a racist. And the funny thing is, most of the time its not even about the racism. Those howling you down are more angry they arent getting their own way than actually having an issue with you.

Maybe todd will buy the rights to the footy show and run his own infomercial.

Couldn't agree more. I've found one exception though, the ABCs show Black Comedy. I don't know if it is because it's the indigenous taking the piss or what, but it's a great show (probably get canned now I've mentioned it). How it got through the pompous lot at the ABC I don't know.

That's a ripper show.
I put some aboriginal mates on to it and they can't get enough. I didn't think that the 1st episode of the new series was that funny but they did.
I liked the skinny bald bloke in previous series but he's not in this one.

The dumb thing is, there have always been girls and women who follow the game. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has lost a heap of interest of late, because of the drop in quality. Pink jerseys and socks don’t interest me at all; the game played and officiated well does. The NRLW and grassroots options for girls are a good step, the fluffy marketing BS is an insult.

Have you watched the NRL Footy show since the 1990s?

It is honestly terrible, and has nothing to do with political correctness.

For a start it is hosted by humourless Beau Ryan and Erin Molan. Vautin was there until last year and he was hardly better.

The Matty Johns Show is everything the Footy Show should have been, and is far from sanitised PC.

I actually quite like 100% Footy. To me, that's the type of panel show I prefer.

Agree usually that's the only criteria. But in this case, they do skits (that had a whitey done, they'd been sent to Christmas Island) that take the piss out of themselves. The skit on Bondi Rescue and the Uber driver were funny as F@ck.

I grew up at nth narrabeen in one of the last streets before you hit warriewood.
I had a lot of mates from the old Yugoslavia in the 70's and 80's who obviously brought the majority of warriewood back in the day.
Good people with a good sense of humour.
