Between the constant witch hunts, massive and targeted salary cap penalties, and obvious referee bias - this team will be broke and gone in 3 years.

The NRL are winning. They want a team from the mythically growing markets of Western Sydney, or interstate rather than having a team in an "old money" region like the Northern Beaches.

The club itself isn't without fault either. To sack a club legend who epitomised the Manly spirit from day one and to then replace him with this paper mache' muppet invader only accelerates the beginning of the end. Just look at this spiritless mess he has created.

It starts with the club. Take a damn hard look at yourselves.

Post of the year?

I’ve been thinking along these lines for a while now. At risk of sounding like a wanker, the niggling little thought has been in the back of my head that this ‘entertainment product’ (it’s not a sport anymore) isn’t for people with any sort of intellect.

It’s marketed at the lowest common denominator, and for good reason - people who aren’t smart enough to think for themselves won’t ever be troubled by the over-influence of the officials on match momentum and results, or the extensive gambling connection that exists nowadays. Think the toothless, gurning Parramatta fans who ‘hate’ Manly but couldn’t give you an inkling of a reason why when challenged. Just doing what they’ve been programmed to do. That’s the kind of fan the NRL wants to keep onside - pay your money for tickets and pay TV, deck your whole family, house and car out in the expensive cookie-cutter merchandise that only differs from the other teams by colours and logo, don’t ever question whether something that smells like bull**** might, in fact, be bull****.

Even the concept of ‘pride in the jersey’ is dead - sure, players want to win premierships, but do you think they give a toss which club they’re playing for when they do? There’s more money and prestige in being a premiership winner, is all.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, OK! today it was a poor effort from the team and we were spanked by a committed, motivated, faster and stronger team who toyed with us pretty much

Don't forget that we are a team that is a work in progress! We had 15K crowd today and that was a positive.

The real test is how the team reacts to today's debacle, I would like to see some changes made to freshen up the team and bring in some enthusiasm!!

All the club can do is now learn from this defeat, it's not all doom and gloom and focuses on what we can control, that means having a cohesive team both on and off the field. For years we have defied the odds, we do not have the money to play with, we have a dilapidated home ground and there are some big decisions coming up for our future.

Have faith folks, we've have darker days than this one!!

Once again it will be a team out West. The Northern Beaches won't support any other side than Manly, and if Manly don't exist, then neither does Rugby League in the Northern Beaches whichd contribute more toward the end of Rugby League as a sport. Then again it seems as though Greenberg wants the sport to die
