I've never understood how the Lottoland model works, nor do I support the hold gambling has on rugby league, and I certainly am still aghast that Brookie Oval has that laughable moniker, so even though it may hurt the Penn pockets I'm in favour of the issue being referred to the Bunker . . . which means the anti-Manly bias will see Lottoland banned.

Simple - they act as agent for you if you buy lotto tickets through them and if you win they keep like 40% of the winnings or something.

It was always going to be a risky sponsorship.

Lorroland is to lotteries like CFDs are to shares.

It's clearly stated on their website that you are not part of the lottery, but are betting on the first prize numbers matching yours. Lottoland just takes out an option to cover the potential payout.

If your numbers match the first prize, then the Lottoland option is activated in Gibraltar.

The 40% is because in most countries, unlike Oz, prizes are taxable.

It's for chronic gamblers, not lottery ticket buyers.

The Newsagents complaining of a loss of business due to Lottoland is dubious.
1)They do not sell overseas lotteries
2)The Lottoland Customer would also be buying OZ lottery tickets as they are gamblers

It is a legal enterprize in Oz.

SA has very strict gaming rules and even newspaper contests have a disclaimer that SA Entries are not allowed.

Thanks HM for the explanation. While it may be legal, I'd just prefer one of our other Sponsors, URM, to sweep away and dispose of Lottoland's branding like it does with our household rubbish.
