Every time I have a conversation with a mate who is a St George supporter about Manly premierships in the 70's, the only name that comes out of his mouth is 'Fulton'.
The Incomparable Immortal to Rugby League was like
The Bradman of cricket .
The Maradona of soccer ,
The Michael Jordan of Basketball ,
The Babe Ruth of Baseball .

It is blasphemous to compare any of these greats to any player in their game

Could pick another 5 teams easily. Struggled to leave out Ridge among many others.
You are right ,, could realistically pick another 5 teams and still have pretty strong line ups . Just thought of even more outside backs that i did not include previously [ and some were utility types as well ] Close , Daryl Williams . John Mac Donald , Sigzworth ,Matt Burke Danny Moore , even the versatile Tony Melrose . Could go on with other positions again as well , Unreal .

@Woodsie, this is the second 17 from your poll. Foran & Ian Martin tied for five eighth, so I allocated Martin as 14 (he tied for second in that position). Crusher wasn't in the second row poll - didn't notice this at the time.

This is in fact the very best way to do this , who came next after the first picked !!

Excellent work.

What about a worst team?
It would be cruel, because it Is an achievement to even get graded.

3 players from 2020 make the team.

why did we end up with ageing Penrith premiership players in the late 90s?

I avoided picking honest reserve graders who made a few 1st grade appearances, because they were doing a job.

Most of my team were underachievers, over-hyped, consistently cost us points, or just here for a last paycheck.

I like this team better... But I'm not an old fart so I didn't see half the other team play ;)

Mate you nailed the halves, they gave me nightmares....and pretty solid contenders, but in my time would add this Forrester bloke, along with Tutt and my early days initiated to footy - Andy Goodway was a huge flop, the only 2 I cant agree with is lane, as always thought showed potential and reckon after being injury free in time, Hopoate will be quite good, never seen Higgs, but was he meant to go ok ??

Higgs was awesome at parra, a flop at manly (opposite to the usual pattern!).

Albert missed every tackle he attempted.

I just couldn’t take to lane, probably his manner of leaving left a bad taste. He scored a few tries but for mine he went missing.

Agree with good way, disappointing.

Forrester and Tutt were hard workers at a time when the team was very weak. We got lapped but I remember them trying hard.
