November Targets

yeah I heard something along the lines of it increasing probably in '27 to $15mill - the players (managers) will just demand bigger $$$ contracts
From SportsNation - so speculation
"NRL clubs will have $12.7 million to spend in 2027 which is the last year of the current broadcast rights deal, understood to be worth $2 billion. ARLC chairman Peter V'landys has said he is targeting $3 billion for 2028-2032.
Mammino said a conservative estimate would place the salary cap at $15 million in 2028 if the game maximised broadcast revenues."

Players are looking to make money and improve themselves. So its the dollars and the club/coach. If there is to be a change of head coach in 2026 we would be wise to announce it sooner rather than later as it will affect our effectiveness in the market place. I except that if there is a change of coach that Seibold will be kept at the club in a different capacity as he is still on the payroll for another 2 years.

I would be willing to bet a sizeable amount of money our forward pack will be basically the same as Round 1 this year.

There is seemingly zero interest from anyone of quality , every one of the good players we have approached have showed no interest in coming , the coach is universally regarded in NRL circles as a dud ( understatement) , the owner is a joke ,and thus far there has been absolutely no acknowledgement that our current forward roster does not reflect the way the modern game is played in the middle , which is the biggest reason why Siebold needs to go as he made a conscious decision to assemble Dads army and thought that Jake is an option at 13 ffs

For these sins he should not survive. How could someone look at a successful modern day pack and then assemble ours is mind boggling. Its ok to have some average players but they have to be the right type of average players.Exhibit A. DOGS

The one ray of sunshine is that Fogarty , with his passing , kicking and game management skills can actually utilize the untapped talent in our outside backs, as opposed to the Chaser deciding on game day whether he'll bother putting in.That would give us a chance at bottom half of the 8.

With our forward pack we won't win any big end of season games. Not a chance in hell.

I'm thinking TKO or Jazz gets out player of the year ATM.

I'm not sure Dad's army is the problem. There is youth below it being brought though so there is a plan.

Our top paid players haven't shown there worth in recent defeats. You need your top 4 players playing well regularly.

A certain Halfback still think he or perhaps just his decision given his status derailed this year. He's had one remotely decent game since that announcement, it's obviously impacted his form in 25.

He's saving himself for his new employers. Which I guess shows he's loyal to something, just not to this club. Can't wait for his tell-all interview in 2026. No doubt it will feature the quote, "What did Manly ever do for me?"

I doubt a “tell all” interview will actually tell all. It’d be just a PR move to not upset anyone, without exposing the real truth that most people know about, other than those ST’ers with their head in the sand

Youth below it? Many clubs (even St George) have strong young middle prospects that get mentioned in ‘player to watch’ lists on the league websites. We might have a couple of young half prospects that get mentions, but there’s clearly a dearth of promising forwards at Manly. Also, other clubs typically have the youth ready to go and they get the odd game here and there; what do we have? Navale? He isn’t even rated that highly and will do well to establish a FG career. He’s not about to take the league by storm. There’s very little in the way of young forwards to get excited about at Manly.

Dad’s Army is clearly a problem. Watch Tedesco’s line break through the middle on Saturday night. Watch Burton’s line break the week before; neither were the result of a system error. Both were the result of sluggish middles struggling to keep up with the tempo of the game, after the softening up period has passed. A lot has been made of Manly’s attack the last couple of weeks. We lack powerful forwards with speed, that skittle defenders and generate ruck speed.

I agree wholeheartedly that our top earners need to be at their best. That they aren’t, does not cancel out the inadequacies of our forward pack. I see both as an issue.

Yeah we don't have the young forwards CURRENTLY knocking that door down like dragons have this year.

I get what your saying. Agree our year would be better if we did have more youth being better performers in amongst our NRL middles.

But dragons know there kids need OLD men around them too, did I just read today Dragons have signed Josh Kerr for next year.. Even with all the kids NRL ready.

Samuella, the Shoe I'm sure the club had plans for both as younger forwards not that long ago. The decision to move on from both probably has left us a gap.

But we do have green shoots sprouting.

Mia and Laifai both been starting in Ressies recently. Hart is another very young but already seeing Ressies.

Patolo I'm not sure but I was expecting he'd see A grade in 25 at the start of the year.

But Jazz TKO have been consistent top performers IMO.

Jake and DCE. Where do I start, both might have played big roles in, if not just been out and out the men that caused both those line breaks you mentioned.

Our 26/27 should be better years IF they get the mix right. Or more toys don't get thrown from cots, rainbows, or roosters. Club / this group does seem to find an implosion.

And regular implosions at that , oh don’t worry there’ll be one next year as well.

I’m glad we missed out on Josh Kerr. I think looks good at the Dolphins but he’s a good penalty and mistake magnet and that’ll rear its head again next year!

Manly's almost annual implosion, whatever the reason, reflects a weak team culture.

Strong leadership and an all-in identity can ride through challenges for the greater good of the team - wasn't this literally one of Manly's strengths historically? What happened to us? Whilst big contributors, it's not just Penn, nor Seibold...

Takes me back to players like Toovs Ben Kennedy Jamie Lyon the Stewart brothers etc. that all hated losing and played with passion for the club
you wouldnt see them smiling and joking with the opposition after a bad loss like the muppets we have these days.
Ok they dont want to lose but do they think it is what it is we still get paid well...
A bit like the forum chats about Penn making money win or lose...

I'm not condoning it, and its frustrating as a supporter to see at time, but think the smiling part of the game after losses happens at every club - they are all mates with each other off the field it seems. Suspect its the age we live in.

Hugo Hart looks like a good propspect. Has size, speed and a good skills background?

I think most of our long-serving players are all just used to losing now. They're as surprised when they get a win as we are. And there's no actual leadership in our leadership group. I mean, our captain is abandoning ship in the hope of getting a bit more personal glory at the arse-end of his career. What else can we expect?

Jake is a natural leader, unfortunately it’s important for a leader to lead by example, and Jake’s best days are behind him. But agree, after him, there isn’t much by way of leadership material.
