NO TURBO .. NO IDEA.

Girds just said on Triple M something that was formulating in my mind regarding our middle forwards - they don't hunt as a pack.

Very true IMO, we've got a bunch of very capable middle forwards but they're working as individuals & not together.

David Riccio echoed many posters' opinions here in that we need a specialist hooker & a forward pack enforcer.

Seems obvious to everyone so I'm sure Des is aware of it too.

WOW .. I have been saying that for 3 years.. and so have others

Dare I ask it? ... am I ready for the outcry of rage .. damn it! I'm a man of courage so ..

Should we play Jorge?
Well I am going to say.... he would get us out of trouble far far better when coming off our own line. Will he score the tries Saab does... if he scores them.... no! Saab's upswing is way better.... but if teams keep doing this Jorge is absolutely in play

Yes, as a team we've been woeful and there's been no "platform" for Tommy to work from. But he can be such a superhuman player that sometimes he will provide his own platform. We haven't seen that so far this year and I'm not sure why. Especially in defence, there have been times when I've thought that last year's Tommy could have saved a try - or at least attempted to - and he just hasn't looked keen on throwing himself into it. He looks frustrated, mainly. Not sure if that's with himself or the blokes around him.

Uninterested for most of the game, noticed this after they scored their first try. Looking for the big bounce back from Tommy and the team next Sunday.

Yes, I reluctantly agree that Harper needs a spell.

I dont know whats happened with him - I had hoped he would start the season back to his best but he seems to have carried his poor form from the end of last season into this one.

Is it a case of the opposition have worked him out & that's it for him? He seemed to make plenty of linebreaks & try assists for Saab last year but looks one-dimensional now.
truth is we only look good against bottom 8 teams.

Our first set last night said it all. Marty Tapau gets the ball around 38m out on the 4th and instead of putting it under his wing and try to get field position, he throws it behind to absolutely noone. DCE ends up kicking from about 20m out instead of 45m out. Roosters score next set. I would be inclined to let Marty go early to NQ if thats what he is going to serve up for us in his last year on contract.

Changes I would like to see:
Marty out, Jake to prop, Schuster to lock when back from injury,
Croker bench, Lawton to start at 9
Harper out, Koula in - have to fix the right side defence that has leaked 8/10 tries conceded this year
Bullemor Bench, Davey to start, Aloiai in after suspension (sipley before that)

Turbo
Saab
Koula
Parker
Garrick
Foran
DCE
Paseka
Lawton
Jurbo
Davey
Olakauatu
Schuster

Walker
Croker
Aloiai
Bullemore

18th Sipley
19th Tuipolotu

This team is being steered by a captain who has always been a headcase.
When we are winning ,he is on .
Negative thoughts start with him and transfers through the team.
Not a hard edged scrappy team ,more a millennial koombuya feel to succeed.

The defence issue is the key. Will the sort of defensive indecision we saw on that side last night improve with Jorge there?

No doubts re: his ability to make the hard metres.

Please leave Jorge out of the conversation. That ship has sailed.

3 things:

As mentioned our forward pack is all over the shop. Needs focus. 2nd half against chooks was better but needs to bring it from the off.

we need the shoe back. Our attack relies on him a lot for a sleight of hand or hold-up play. He also has that factor to break open a game even when things are not going great.

and lastly, the speed of the game has gone down by at least 30% compared to valandry ball 2021. This is a concerted effort by the NRL to stop the 2 tier comp we say last year. If the keep going on the same line you will see a lot more sub 20 point close games this year. We are really suffering with the slow speed.

Look we need a hooker. Now. We cant keep playing halves and back rowers as hookers. Croker ran twice last night for the first time and Lawton had the guts to go from DH twice at the try line once scoring. We need someone doing this ALL game. It burns me to say this but Segyaro is the best hooker we have available.

I really hate that we use JT as a first receiver. It is so slow and it channels where we are headed becuse he is just an off loader.

There is a real problem with the RHS defence. And It starts with DCE. At least twice he stayed in on friday night instead of covering his man. Rugby League at its core is still man on man defence. Communication starts from him on that edge and he looks totally lost.

Schu also straightens the attack on that side. The team is all sideways at present. He made a few good breaks last year changing direction off his left foot, back towards the posts. And voila next play there is space outside for turbo and Garrick.

And whats more, we still use the inside out sliding defence the was effective when Des was here circa 2008. The relies on strong and fit laterall defenders. Like are qe the only team still going sideways and retreating in defence? We are being smashed because everyone else i can see is using the up and in defence. We have big middles with big engines that are all great defensively. Why wouldnt we want to drive them in that direction?

Mostly agree except there is no way we can afford 2 small forwards on the bench either Lawton or Croker plays hooker - Lawton for me
You then choose between Burbo, Davey and Sipley for the 2nd row and bench spot.

Agree that tapau is way past his use by date. Let him go now. He’s a liability.
