I still think Wicks is a scum bag but he's actually done his time and if they review his case and he's cleared to return good luck to him. Personally I'd rather he go and have to earn a real living as I also think pro athlete is a privilege and jail time should ban you for life from that career.

I know if I'd been in jail I couldn't get work doing what I do. Wouldn't get beyond the police check.

Danny wicks was released from prison on the 29th March 2013, and since has been earning an honest living working behind a bar and at a gym.......And in regards to his case being reviewed, old news mate, he's been playing group 2 bush footy and is now signed and playing with parra and played well. Don't get me wrong , I'm not here to preach one his behalf, he ****$d up sure, imo I beleive everyone deserves a second chance if there willing to put in, but I also understand not everyone is of that opinion..... Agree to disagree I guess.

No we generally agree. I didn't know that so fair call. Like I said before he's paid his debt and if the NRL deems him OK then good luck to him. Moreso if he's been earning an honest quid. What I've never really understood is why slinging bricks was such a burden for someone like Josh Dugan when he got axed from the Raiders. That's how a lot of footy fans earn money. If you think you're better than them then buddy, you are wrong.

A fair question though would be why these guys get a look in at all. Surely there is enough young talent that you wouldn't even need to take a flyer on an ex con in the NRL. Wicks never really set the world on fire before he got locked up. Aren't there young kids busting their ass in the junior ranks more worthy of a first crack than a second chance for these guys?

Well done my fair share as a brickies labourer during my teens ..... For someone who has never carried out this type of work , ie like a professional footy star which has been pampered from early teens just to play footy, it would be a massive shock to the system.... I think they all should still have to get a trade or persue a career path, just in case things don't work out. In regards to young blokes in lower grades getting first shot, well if they were good enough they would have taken it while he was in prison.....
