No end in sight

I don’t see any end in sight with this current team, coach and owner. We just might rival Parra not winning.a premiership. Too many player issues and a coach that no one wants. We have fallen so far from grace. I hardly recognize the Manly I grew up with. Too many free loaders making big money, Seibold not a coach the broncos tossed him with players not wanting him. We are a dumping ground for has beens, and no one wants to play for Manly. Wait till the bears and png enter, we don’t have a chance in recruiting

100%

The only way forward is our owner finally sells the club to someone who cares... and then we rebuild from there, we could be another 20 years away from a premiership at this rate
Yeah agree. The owner just doesnt seem to have the business model in place to build a highly successful NRL team

You need all kinds or systems, rorts models and income streams in place to operate at full capacity .

You need to be able to absorb big losses at times

Penns time has past but that the thing about private ownership.

100%,
When you read that Easts have purchased a block of flats adjacent to the Football Stadium to house their juniors from intrastate, interstate and overseas when they train and play in their lower grades it underscores why money equals success. Easts groom these promising kids which is why they have an endless roster of good players and are always strong, despite having virtually no local juniors.
Until we gain an owner with deep pockets we'll be just making up the numbers in the NRL.

My biggest concern is the lack of continuity in our positioning as a club. We haven't made the top 8 in back to back seasons since 2013-2014. We made the 8 last year. We are no chance this year.

The last time we finished minor permiers was 1997!

It's quite evident which years Turbo played more than he missed.

2013: 4th
2014: 2nd
2015: 9th
2016: 13th
2017: 6th
2018: 15th

2020: 13th
2021: 4th
2022: 11th
2023: 12th

Based on that Trend looks like we'll finish 10th-12th this year lol

How are we no chance this year?

And the next couple I’d say as well. Tragic to think of the talent we’ve squandered in the last decade with nothing to show for it.
Yep, there is a very handy team of Manly discards running around each weekend. AFB, Api, Hynes, Metcalf, Ramien, Tuipolotu, Cutho, Wright, Weekes, Lane, Suli, Marty, Lawton, Walker, etc.

So we've made the finals only 4 times in the last 10 years!

This sort of retrospective list could be put together for all 17 clubs. It's just part and parcel of the professional game. The issue is not so much who we've let go, it's how the players we've had, have performed. There's always been plenty of talent at the club; we just haven't performed consistently well with that talent. When I look at our 2019 side, I see a genuine premiership threat. Unfortunately, injuries got in our way, just as we were building towards something. Then Fainu threw his career down the toilet, Tom started getting regular injuries, AFB jumped ship, Taupau aged ten years in an off-season, blah blah blah...you get the picture.

Yeah, I know. I guess I was just contemplating what sort of roster we could have had without a couple of mega contracts.

Weekes should of been our 6 instead of brooks.
Maybe. He’s certainly a good ball runner. Not sure about his ball skills. Didn’t he play in the halves in his debut, didn’t set the world on fire and was then deemed surplus to requirements after that one game? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I think the biggest loss of any player in the last 6-10 years is AFB. He's a complete dropkick but arguably the best prop in the NRL. It cannot be underestimated how effective his ruck speed is. A lot is said about Tapine, Haas, Tino, etc. but none of them have AFB's play-the-ball. It's the late footwork that gets him between defenders and he never, ever, ever, gets dominated with the ball. The other three (particularly Tino) are occasionally picked up and dumped. I've never seen AFB get smashed.

You'd be correct got one shot against penrith in penrith. Was thrown to the wolves and then discarded. Poor form really from siebold. A running 5 eighth is exactly what we will need next year now. Weekes would of fit that bill. Brooks is pretty lacklustre in that department these days

Definitely one we should have kept.
