On a different tangent, I wonder if the Storm/Crown have anyone doing PR for them. Surely with the whole Tandy issue going on they should have waited a few days.
Lets face it, in melbourne the papers will only write one story about RL, instead of being about a new sponsor now I would bet it is about both gambling issues and the deal. Very silly move.
Totally disagree. Perfect timing. It shows that whilst some people do the wrong thing, there can still be commercial enterprise with good intentions going forward.
I'm very surprised their product is as saleable as it is. Their CEO must be a good salesman.
And Darren, I've given up on all the back office stuff all together mate. What will be, will be. I'm just going to watch the footy now, and just not care as much. The best method for dealing with all (and I know you have more concerns about the team than I mate), is as Eagles fans, lowering one's expectations makes for a much happier camper.
If you just believe they will bungle their way through, you won't get disappointed.
All I know, is that I'm stinging to see the lads on the park again (whoever they may be???)....

Did you see any positive news on this in the papers? An announcement is meant to generate free media and attention in the build up to a new season. I disagree with you fundamentally. The take away message was not that some people can be trusted to do the right thing at all. The average joe seeing this in the paper in melbourne connected with the Tandy case would look and think that something suss was happening.
I don't have a problem with the sponsor, far from it - I just think that it was very poor PR timing, they wasted an opportunity to get free positive media and instead game every hostile media organization in the city another free chance to connect them with cheating. A connection that I would imagine would not be hard to make for most melbournites. For a team with a PR problem this was poor timing, perhaps a little unavoidable as the season is not far off, but still poor.
