Always liked Civ, he's showing some good loyalty by staying at the Panthers for another year even after their woeful performances.  He might help sway Campese to join, although i'm starting to think he'll still end up at the Raiders

I read on a Phil Rothfield blog that Manly had the chance to buy Campese for $150,000 when he fell out with Canberra.

Just interested if anyone can verify this

Unlikely that anyone on here will be able to verify it. Obviously Buzz has got some mail on it, but Campo was being shopped around (without much success) last year to any number of clubs. The Raiders wanted Barrett and showed no interest in Campo, therefore he would've been fairly cheap. Also, Manly were in the market for a 5/8, so obviously he would've been on our radar.

Bloody shame, but everything is easy to judge in hindsight. As a club, Manly has made many great decisions over the past few years.
