so after these claims a few years ago Schubert did not investigate, now that it has come out in court he has his arms tied.

I always wondered whether the ATO followed up Bennett's 'beneath the table' payments from the Thoroughbreds.

There's a real problem hiring former footie players in these sort of positions.  You know, mates etc....all a bit smelly.  Maybe the NRL don't pay as well as the big four firms do.  Pay peanuts, get monkeys.  Auditors with no club affiliations and certainly no ex-footie players would be a start.
