Newbies thoughts on NSW

NSW team selection is a joke.

This is how to win...

1. Pick the best current season form player for every position with no respect to past performance or representative duty.
The End!

A.
The team will pretty much stay the same, as the best are the best and only a few new players will gain selection if their current season form warrants selection.
B.
The culture will develop naturally as there will be a bond between team mates that are the current season, best form players.
C.
This is not a popularity contest or an opportunity to sell Weetbix. If they are not in jail, on suspension they can be selected. Their ability to conduct an interview or their skin colour shouldn't matter. F#ck the politics behind selection.
D.
Loyalty??? This is real life, we are playing to win at any cost for our state of NSW. If you are not the best current season, inform player for that position...you are not in the game, train harder next year. F loyalty.
E.
Every game NSW chop and change... the players don't have the confidence or security to play at their best. Once the best players have been selected for that year...that's the team...no changes till next year.
Everyone can have a bad game...that's why it is best of 3.
F.
Fff the knuckle dragging selectors and ex nrl players that couldn't think their way out of a paper bag. Laurie Daley should be sacked.
G.
The nrl season should be put on hold for 3 weeks during state of origin. This will allow players to heal, recuperate and make a good run to the finals.
H.
Only the game winning players should receive match payment bonus.

Not bad for a newby, lol
Though ...if you want the team picked on NRL form leading in to game 1... what about players who excel at NRL level but can't cut it at the next level?
And what about players in form before Game 1 who then flop in game 1 and are no longer in form by the time game 3 rolls around 2 months later?!?!

I think the state of origin should be played as a tournament over 3 consecutive Wednesdays.
This would also give the NRL clubs a 2 week break.
It is a long season and this would give the teams time to heal and make a good run to the finals.
If the players don't step up, lose form or just play badly...that's the breaks
Tough luck...select a different side next year...The players need security to play at their best. The team picked for that year is the team for the series....
