I am not going to beat the vlandys drum too hard but this is is a much better game under the new management regeime . Maybe not on field but off field for sure. The former CEO had my love for the game and belief in the systems at an all time low as he flipped and flopped between wanting to be consistent one day, to being fair the next while neither feeling apparent .

Is he still running cricket. Is cricket still going . I wonder how his kids feel about cricket. Didnt he use them as a vibe stick

Still plenty of stuff to iron out but the further we sail from that port the more the comp and its teams feel seaworthy. Clubs needed loans, were threatened with extinction, tv money seemed less plentiful all seems a distant memory. Maybe vlandys just got lucky

The kickoff rule could get ugly though. Has pink bats scandal all over it as defensive lines sprint into MR up there cazaly style . Remember tom getting ironed out legally because the ball bounced .

When I read the title thread, I thought this post was going to be something about the off-season - you know; that era when no footy is played and we sit around the tv, watching the cricket, bored sh!tless, counting down the days till the footy kicks off again.

Vlandys has done exceptionally well and particularly taking into account the very difficult circumstances during the covid era .
Always seems to be looking at opportunities to improve the code 's bottom line and general standing and seems to have the natural flair and initiative to get or mainly get the right results .
Hope that he can be at the helm for quite a bit longer yet

Lots of things going right.

More money in the tin, attendance numbers up , more members joining , expansion under way.

Some things not going right too , but previous CEO’s all had their agendas and issues.

A 7/10 for me.

Autocorrect gets me occasionally, but that comes from 💩 typing in the first place.

It’s like everything it all gets much harder beyond 60, well almost everything but there’s a fix for that

I had some eye stuff a bit back and its made focus on the smaller devices a little difficult. Hopefully will get glasses again soon and that will help. As a result ive just kind of given up trying too hard TBH and my attention to detail has dropped off

Going on ground attendances in the season just gone, I'd say we're on the right track. The games in a good space atm, just hope we don't get to politicaly correct and spoil it from a mad old school supporters point of view.

The game is doing well with attendance and TV viewership going up. I don't think the current version of the game is the reason why Manly has had higher membership numbers in the last 2 seasons, but more so the new Bob Fulton stand. Anyways I much prefer the "wrestle" that the game had before V'landy's brought in the stupid "6 again" rule which is a lottery.

Old school or new faster version
Just a great sport
The new rules, interpretations, are all about protecting the game and the players so have to say well done, even with the backlash of the game becoming softer....but most those calling it soft probably weren't out there tackling 120kg wingers who run like the wind

Fox tonite showed Manly v Newtown semi from way back in the day, the Bowden-Broadhurst fight and pretty much all players bashing each other for 5 minutes or so. Only watched the first half but...Holy mackerel!

Particularly when every referee has a different interpretation of the rules, there's no consistency from one game to the next😡
