  • 1968, MAJOR SEMI FINAL | SEA EAGLES 23 – 15 SOUTHS The Sea Eagles faced perennial contenders the South Sydney Rabbitohs in a bruising encounter earning a place in their first Grand Final in almost a decade.

    1983, MAJOR SEMI FINAL | SEA EAGLES 19 – 10 EELS When the Sea Eagles meet arch rivals in the Semi Final’s there was bound to be fireworks but it was the class of Phil Blake and Crusher Cleal that proved the difference booking the Sea Eagles’ place in the Grand Final.

    1991, ROUND 19 | SEA EAGLES 15 – 0 BEARS The Sea Eagles came out firing, putting the Bears to the sword and recording the first shutout victory in the 45 year history with their North Shore rivals.

    1995, QUARTER FINAL | SEA EAGLES 24 – 20 SHARKS Down 8 – 20 it looked like another finals campaign had been cut short but with the likes of Des Hasler, David Gillespie and Cliff Lyons the Sea Eagles rallied to record a memorable comeback, keeping their Grand Final hopes alive.

    1997, MAJOR QUALIFYING FINAL | SEA EAGLES 27 – 12 KNIGHTS One of the great individual Rugby League rivalries was on show when props Paul Harragon and Mark Carroll squared off, for the winner their Finals hopes are kept alive the loser and early exit.

    I wish!!!!! This last bit is obviously RUBBISH! The 1997 semi v Newcastle was a bit of a non event. The way the ARL finals were set up that year the winner got a tough prelim final v the roosters while the loser got a guaranteed path to the GF v the poor old bears.
 
Ah, the 1968 Major Semi Final, I remember it well, Alec Tennant gets the ball 25 meters out and ploughs right through the Souths defence, a great player.
We should've gone on to win the GF, except for a dropped ball that was picked up by Cleary and ran 80m to score untouched, Bozos first GF
