New coach Poll

If we go down this avenue, interested in who we think we should target?

Well as much as I hated him playing against us he could play and his analysis of the game on Fox is top notch.I feel a little bit disloyal saying it but I think Siebold is not taking us where we need to be.
Ennis is certainly an x player of the modern game, so should know what we need to do, and importantly who we need to do it
Hasn't played since 2016...9 years...hardly a giant of the modern game. So great commentators make great coaches now...Just what we need another coach who walks across the grass in bare feet. He has none zero zilch credentials to be a coach in the NRL.

Interesting suggestion with Ennis, given he’s part of the current malaise that the club is in
Strange you should say that. Post game last night, the other Foxies were asking Ennis what Seibold would do now and his response indicated he was in the dark and he never really knows what he is going to do.

At least that's how I heard it. Recollections may differ

I didn’t hear it,but given how the team has performed under his tenure,I doubt Seibold knows what he’s going to do

Who is your suggestion ?

Ange Postecoglou. He always wins a trophy in his second season. I'd settle for that (as long as it isn't the Preseason Challenge, even Seibold can win that).

The question of a possible replacement coach is debatable but it’s proven that former Manly players have achieved.
But what I’m annoyed about mostly is not the coach ,or the players,it’s the silence from Mestrov and Penn it’s deafening.
As someone mentioned and Penn stated business is result driven, this surely can’t be the results he was expecting.Penn also said that Seibold would boost our premiership prospects, but when Seibold makes post match comments like the other side played better is more a defeatist comment than a coach who is expected to achieve.
And may I also add no apology from the coach in their dreadful performances which is disappointing.

One of the problems I see with Manly's appointment of Seibold is he's clearly not interested in building something. He went all in on the Trbo's and DCE to win him a premiership. Now the Trbo's are broken and DCE has flown the coup and we're left with nothing.

I'm not sure that I understand this point in particular.

DCE signed his current contract extension in 2022, before Des was sacked. Jake and Tom signed their current deals in 2019 and those don't expire until the end of next year.

I'm not sure what Seibold was supposed to do here?

Put some youth around them and be OK with maybe not winning a comp for a few years. Instead, he tried to put an experienced pack of bargain buys around them and the results speak for themselves.

I have it on good authority that Brooks was purchased and Latu Fainu was let go because Seibs believed the window was open then and Latu wasn’t ready.

Would have kept Weekes and have him at 5/8. The money used on Brooks could have been used towards a good quality forward....all while keeping Fainu.

Always bemused at the old 'my favourite old player should be coach'.

Its not a strict rule as you have you Fulton etc but Bellamy, Bennett, Robinson as opposed to Lewis, Meniga, Fittler.

Just cause you could does mean you can coach others to.

The idea of Watmough, Beaver etc for mine its laughable

You are talking about a club whose owner stated in 2022 that we have a premiership-winning roster, and that we need a coaching department to match that.

I don't think any coach has the luxury of sacrificing current results and justifying it by saying that we might win a premiership in 3-5 years.

We got rid of Foran to put Schuster at 6 in 2023. It didn't work, nor did Cooper Johns, nor did Jake Arthur. We tried Weekes in a few positions and he was not convincing (albeit, he was a rookie, and DCE has unfortunately always seemed to need a confident and experienced playmaker next to him for him to do his best work). So, we had a choice of either signing/promoting another rookie who may or may not be ready to be a first-grade half, or sign someone with experience... We chose the latter.

I hope that Fogarty provides a better platform for someone else to be tried alongside him.
