Negatives from tonight

He is just a human being ffs. He had a **** game. He has plenty of good games too. It's not like he is a machine that was incorrectly programmed by Des (who is masquerading as a coach but is really a spy for Souths).
So you don't know then?
If he was a ridiculously high paid CEO of a company with shareholders and he put in less than stellar performances, do you think they'd be saying 'he is just a human being ffs"?
Or even 77 year old Mick Jagger - never lets his audience down. And he's just a (very highly paid) human being ffs!
As the highest paid player in the game, it is not nearly good enough.

It's really frustrating when you have your forward pack FINALLY take aim and mow down through the middle and play well. And then you got our "world class" halves not knowing how to take advantage of it. Kicking game was trash bar that early kick that had challenge Paulo. So bad at trying to get repeat sets. And our creativity with our outside backs is just so scrappy and predictable. Our inside 20 attack is disorganised and they attack like they've never played or trained with each other before.
Hey, it's not DCE's fault, he doesn't have an experienced halves partner to take the pressure off.... oh wait, that was the previous seasons' excuse since Green left.

Oh, I know... his forwards aren't laying a platform...
He can't perform without a superstar million-dollar fullback.
He's not getting the right service from dummy half.
He doesn't have Sirro cutting back inside him...

I don't know, am I missing something? @

I truly hope for DCE's mental health and wellbeing he doesn't read this forum. That said, every single forum member here has a right to be pi$$ed off with what we are getting from him.

Biggest negative has to be Davey gone for the season. In less than half a game he showed more mongrel and desire than the rest of the team put together. That he hurt himself cleaning up one of Cherry's mind-bending f*ck-ups makes it even harder to take.
Yeah I was quite pissed off w/ this. So frustrating

Not ready for dropping him to Blacktown (Yet).
But happy for him to shift to hooker ,give quick ,fast service and tackle his coit off.
Leave the decision making to Foran ,Cust or Schuster.
He either slowly earns his spot(and confidence) back ,stays our new hooker or f#cks off to Blacktown or Qld.

But something has to give..

1.Harper/Funa
2.Saab
3.Walker
4.Harper/Funa
5.Suli
6.Cust/Schuster
7.Foran
8.Paseka
9.Dce
10.Marty
11.Aloiai
12.Gosiewski
13.Jake

14.Cust/Schuster
15.Keppie
16.Sipley
17.Parker

Tapau offloaded and the ball bounced backwards.. no one wanted it, nor expected it.. very dissapointing.
There was very little in terms of people pushing up in support. I actually think the thing that lost the game for us was Dce and Foz kicking game. Did we force one repeat set? In that weather ball control and getting to the kick is so important. And that goes for when we were attacking their line. I thought we were mostly going over the top of them in the forwards sone more sustained pressure on attack would have gone a big way to completely wearing their forwards out.

I think Parker will get his first run in the 2nd row this week and I reckon he will go well. He can tackle, runs a hard line and is big enough.
I doubt dce will go to 9, but yesterday was the first time I’ve really questioned his play. Far out he was bad.
I’d keep the bench the same as last week and bring Funa or Harper in to fb

If we drop him to blacktown.. maybe just maybe he might seek a release on his own terms

That is still a strong side and capable of winning games!!! The backline actually looks stronger and I am one of the ones that think Parker will be a gun backrower!
We still have Funa, Tuipilotu, Sipley and Saddler missing selection so its still a strong team:
1.Harper
2.Saab
3.Walker
4.Suli
5.Garrick
6.Foz
7.Chez
8. Taupau
9. Croker
10. Paseka

12. Gosiewski

14. Cust
15. Aloiai

It actually looks quite balanced with mobile back rowers and 4 solid props up front. Funa utility cover for Cust if he’s ruled out

DESpicable mumbled his way through another inane press conference. Apparently the reasons we are struggling is because "we have to get players back on the park..."
No. You just don't select the correct players! What a hide he has mentioning Guacca as being unavailable when he never selected him.
Fair dinkum Despicable. Stop blaming players who have been proven to be below standard and start taking responsibility for your selections of them!
The Des press conference is about as hard to watch as the actual teams performance. The mumbling, the riddles - and why does he pretend to not hear every second question and ask to reporter to repeat it? Is he genuinely hard of hearing or is he trying to buy a few seconds to think of an answer?

The simple answer to the opening thread is depth...there is a time and place for a flat passing game, but anyone wanting to see how to attack around the red zone will note Souths/Penrith who have players lined out deep to -
  • Suck the defence and turn defenders feet inwards to prevent the slide
  • Give time and space away from the defence
  • Be Running onto the ball at speed
  • Ensure the support player outside has time to find a hole and get a clean pass away
  • Often convert red zone opportunities into points.
This is Not only a fault of DCE and halves partner, but the lack of direction often is.
Thing is, if your halves are looking confused in attack, this will pretty much be mirrored by the entire team and the only chance for a line break becomes an individual who can do it on his own, or like the paseka pass, a freakish play that won't happen often.

At centre you run three or four hard lines and make half a dozen tackles. Most weeks our centres don’t even touch the ball.

An 80 minute edge forward has triple or quadruple that workload. It’s not even in the same post code in terms of work rate.

He gets bashed weekly at centre and is regularly concussed and has NEVER played second row. I hope for his welfare he does not get picked.
He will get absolutely smashed. Centre is often one on one defence. Forwards get gang tackled.Opposition teams target him because they know he is vulnerable. He is a reserve grade quality footballer in any position. But he is also fearless - which makes it dangerous with his head injury past.

A forward is injured - replace with a forward even if it requires an exemption request. Nothing would surprise me though with the selections.
A concussion prone slow centre who has never played back row. who with a couple of mates conceded seven tries down his side in round one, and this is the fix..... are we really at this stage?

Yes yes yes, sorry Parker it wouldn't end well.
Des seemed to be making a quip when he mentioned Parker to second row, but admittedly it's often hard to tell when he's making a joke.
I thought Schuster did a very good job. Other option would be Aloiai to start in sceond row and bring in Sipley.

May not end well but I think we might see next week.
