Nathan Ross set to be dropped after contract comments

Newcastle Knights winger Nathan Ross has been dropped to reserve grade this weekend after making comments to the media that he is not happy with his current contract.

Ross is reportedly on $150,000 per year, a figure which is less than some reserve graders. Speaking candidly to the Newcastle Herald yesterday, Ross confirmed he was looking to upgrade his current deal with the Knights.

“I’m not asking for a million dollars like all these other guys,” Ross said. “I’m not even asking for half of that. I don’t operate like that. I just want what is fair, and to set my family up.”

He obviously stopped part the way down the food chain when choosing his manager. Had he continued all the way to the bottom feeding zone he wouldn't be having this issue.

I think the Rossweiler may have been a bit inexperienced in talking to the journo. There is no place for straight talking honesty anymore. It will only be turned around to be a bad thing and it will then bite you in the arse. Just give generic, boring answers, Nathan. Let your manager sort it out. @;)

Journo's have a way of making you feel like you're great mates, then you let your guard down and start to shoot from the hip.

BANG! There's their story.

"Money is not my motivation. I'd play for nothing. It's been a dream since I was a little boy kicking my footy in the backyard of our Maitland home to one day proudly represent the magnificent blue-and-reds...."
Bullsh*tting is not that hard!

The Knights have so much cap space. Ross is a fan favourite, his team mates love him and he plays with absolute passion. I understand you can't go giving every player than whines an upgrade, but he deserves it. IMO Nathan Brown gets a lot right, but he missed the mark on this.

Dont mess with the coach

He is not that good with wingers.

Players need to learn you start at the bottom and move up when a vacancy exists at a higher level.

I see people at my work with more ability than many but earning half the pay. Their time will come or they move on.

He might be grateful for $150k when he is picking up garbage bins or laying bricks for a living.

And don't even start me on picking your own boss/coach.

And he is a winger lol.

Well done Knights.
