Myles - what's going on?

Lets get this really straight: Myles is a rep player on decent dough and a professional footballer - he has been incredibly average since he joined the club, to put it mildly - so my post is asking why that would be the case and suggesting that a motivating factor may have been the SOO coach in the stands, which if true isn't good enough. Manly pay Myles wages and as such he is expected to put in, like he did last night every game. Oh and one thing he could look at too: quit spinning when he hits the line. The great benchmark: BK never did.

Who gives a fk what his motivating factor is ?

QLD air
A penchant for Cowboys
QLD coach in the commentary box
Contract year maybe ?
Maybe his missus gave him some extra encouragement

The bloke had his best game in a Manly jersey last night, and that's enough for me.
Let's see it long continue.

Hey Mave - your last sentence is the point. And don't you wonder why he's been called Mr Plod here for months? I do. Rather than "let's see it long continue" which reeks of PC safe language - how about it MUST continue - because he's paid to deliver that standard, every game.

Are you serious, he was aggressive and dominant all night. I'm rejoicing because it shows CLEARLY that he has something left in tank, and he can be a real weapon (particularly defensively) this year. Enjoy the spectacle of a much maligned sporting identity closing the mouths of those who have never played professional contact sport ( me included). Hats off, he's one hard **** when he's switched on. Hence why he's been picked and performed for QLD for 30 odd games. As a club, if we get 10 or more games like that this season then we're in business. He did more than what was needed last night, enjoy it.

Lets just see what next week brings... I am happy to eat my words, and will start a thread to say so if Mr Plod can give us 25% of his games at that level over the 2 years the club have paid him 1.1 million.

That is 12 games over 48 potential games. Current score is 1/27.

Lets just see what next week brings... I am happy to eat my words, but club leopards and spots don't change overnight. SOO form is irrelevant to Manly if not consistently applied @ club level.

Plus.. 1 performance from Mr Plod over 27 games does not make a 550K investment worthwhile (imho).
First of all you dismiss his performance as an audition for SOO, then you put it down to being pedestrian the week before, and finally you label the North Qld forwards as nobodies. All of which add up to the reason for which Nate Myles aimed up. Then in your next post you say a leopard can't change its spots, well my friend last night he did, so on that basis you're already cooked.

I said I will post a plentiful retraction if Mr Plod gives us 25% of his value over 2 years. i.e. 11 more games up to round 24.

However, I am sure a 32 year old leopard will find it difficult to change his plods (err spots).

I've been one of Myles harshest critics on here but I've already said on other threads he had a good game last night. It would've been good if he didn't take turbo out, but I suppose he was actually trying to bash one of the cowboys. But like the rest of the team one good game is just that. Keep putting in constantly then there's no reason to suspect ulterior motives. If he keeps doing the same he will have very few complaints.

Well that is an interesting developmment.

How can his motivation to play a blinder be because the SOO coach is in the stands , if he has retired from SOO ??

Must be another reason.

He played out of his skin and I'm absolutely delighted for him. We should all be thrilled. He is one of our own.

@Budgewoi Eagle is playing with our heads ...
Ha! I'll take it as a compliment Woodsie. I admit that I usually see the world with a bit of a whimsical nod and cynical wink, but in this case I think Myles (autocorrected to Mules, but I digress) really did bust a gut and was really trying. So why not support the bloke?
The tone was most likely influenced by the cold which I have had for four weeks now that has morphed into full blown man flu! Oh how you blokes suffer!!
I shall refrain from posting until this morning's home remedy of raw garlic and apple cider vinegar takes effect.
You can smell me, right?

Wavered between a winner and funny. But agree Myles put in big time and also thought he had a real dig last week too. But was unsure of your sentiment, for as you acknowledge, your reputation (and strange odour) precede you.

Hehe.
On second thought it may have morphed into bird flu, instigated by @BOZO flapping his feathers around rather excessively of late.
That would explain the warped positivity. @

Myles had a good game and was heavily involved. So did Tafua, Uate, Walker and a few others. It looked to me like a team staring down the barrel of an unwanted losing streak and bathed in off-field controversy, stood in a room full of mirrors before going out and having a real dig. To me, they have proved what they are capable of. Hopefully they maintain it.

Maybe Barrett should get Kevvie Walters to do the pre-match motovational talk before each game.

He has a 100% win rate so far.
