Most 'Important" position in modern NRL

Last year's winning Origin coach? You serious?
South's year was boring as bat ****.
No style or skill.
5 runs up the middle, kick to the corner
Repeat
Repeat

Lood Madge might be a better coach ten years on, but the question wasn't who won a comp and became a good coach.

The way the game has evolved l'd have to say fullback is the pick.
Effectively the attack revolves them, especially the elite ones like Turbo, Edwards, Smear, Teddy, Walsh....and Mitchell when he's on.
In the main they also have the ball skills of a five eighth and apart from Walsh, defensively hold the key.

Looking back over notable seasons, Turbo nearly carried us all the way, Hayne the same with Parra.
Kind of why Origin teams tend to have 2-3 fullbacks in each team, they bring so much.

I get elite what halfbacks provide but really, would Penrith have won four on the trot without Edwards providing what he does?

But, the answer is a pineapple, we can make a case for any of the spine really.
