Nah, as a player he was alright. He only became a wanker when he was CEO of the Broncos. He used to whinge to the ARL that he reckoned that his team was hard done by. The ARL had told him many times after his whinging that if he didn't like things the way that they were to go & start his own competition with his team as the flagship so he ran to old Rupert & News Ltd and started the game wrecking Super League.

As an addition to the above, when the 2 comps merged as the NRL, he demanded his own team in Melbourne & our other despised team The Storm was born so we can blame him for that as well.
