The Who
Journey Man
Rex referred to the invasion of fans onto the field after full time as "insanity" but when you look at the passion shown by spectators in those days it's obvious that the sport has lost the intense rivalry of the 60s and 70s. Now RL is played on genteel grounds where everybody has a seat, under the menacing eye of security guards, and over-officiated by technology. Being uncomfortable is now longer part of the attraction of being a died-in-the-wool fan. You'd stand for hours, on tiptoes, surrounded by raucous supporters, not daring to move from your spot to go to the toilet or to buy a pie as you'd never regain your place again.
Great memories, and as much as I still enjoying watching Manly play I think that golden era of the sport has passed.
