Moses Suli

Suli lacks confidence a spell at Blacktown I think is needed.

He needs to run with more depth and he is mostly out of position when defending, he and Saab are a disaster on our right edge at the moment!

Plenty of players under performing or just not up to speed so to speak but Suli has been going not that badly , one clear miss last night but was handling Kikau in particular down his side especially in the i st half when it really should have not been his main requirement . That should have been Kikau "s opposing edge forward or even covering half . That 's half the problem [ no pun ] just not numbering off inside out , sometimes again Suli looks exposed in defence but he can 't be expected to take on two runners coming at him . Very difficult coming across and trying to stop or cover a finishing winger with plenty of room to move Again Suli is a quite effective one on one tackler and one of the few Manly players capable of troubling an opposition when he gets the footy and able to do something with it in a good position . , including last night . Had a very poor inside group with D C E and Siro in recent times form wise and no better now. Hopefully if D C E is capable of still playing better and Olokau - atu as an edge forward with him will give him some proper attacking opportunities and less undue pressure on him in defence .

Suli reminds me of a big kid who doesn't realise his size and strength
His defensive reads were horrible and looked like a deer in the headlights and unsure where to be, especially defensively.
His performance was made Far worse by his inside edge of Boyle and DCE who were not straight, but jagged and promoting a hole for the Penrith attack - particularly Kikau.
In attack I would have a simple plan for Suli snd play him like an edge forward, getting his halves to straighten up and iscolate the edges and have him constantly charging at opposition halves....in fact its a pity he can't tackle as would be the ideal edge running forward who could actually bend the line or better still add attacking thrust we simply don't have stm

I don't altogether blame Suli or Saab for the fiasco last night. They were often left outnumbered when Cherry absented himself from the defensive line and our sliding defense was nonexistent.

Suli tried hard and threw his body into the contest in the second half. Like most of the team, however, he was just trying to barge his way through a good defensive line. We had no strategy beyond trying to run over the defenders. Suli is probably playing to the coaches instructions. I assume Cherry is as well as he's been running ineffectually out of the line for weeks and Des hasn't pulled him into line.

I don't blame Saab either. He's outside a center that won't pass and a half that won't kick for him. Time and again he finds himself more or less on his own trying to stop several large, fast males playing as a team. Saab's got good speed but he doesn't get to use it. If he's not jumping for balls it's probably got a lot to do with the coach and the practice that he's not getting at training.

Suli needs to learn to pass. He needs to learn that setting up his winger his every bit as much a part of his job as running the ball himself. He has to show more energy every game and do those little things like diving on loose balls rather than waiting for them to bounce into his arms.

I doubt I have seen Foran, Suli, Parker or Saab actually make a break this season. Saab took an intercept once but I don't count that.
Mind you, I haven't see Jurbo make a break in two seasons. He is still a good defensive player but he now has no penetration in his runs.
I have mixed feelings about a lot of the players in our team; are the simply not good enough or are they not really trying? If they were all really trying then we still may not score many points but we'd also keep the oppositions to a respectable score.
