Haha - yeah mate I usually exist on about 5 hours sleep a night. 4am - 9am. Then I will burn out after a few days and get 9 hours before the cycle starts again.

Why are we experiencing so many more deaths now that the country is almost fully vaccinated? Omicron is supposed to be a weaker strain. 90% of the country is fully vaccinated. Our daily death rates have sky rocketed. Strange. Perhaps one of the science buffs can break it down for me?

A let it rip preference from some government quarters or persuasion , whether clandestine or not for political purposes and regardless of the consequences . I am not a science buff,but will give it a go,it is called Delta and has not gone away.
To put it in relative footy terms...
Trent(Delta) doesn't coach Manly anymore,we have a new coach called Des(Omicron),however Trent is still around coaching and messing with some peoples' heads still on Silvertails.

Like you I'm no scientist, and like Kev I'm capable of looking at the mainstream health sites for that information, although those who don't believe the various government scientists will obviously keep looking for answers elsewhere, and no doubt eventually find the answers they are looking for.

Anyway for what its worth, last I heard from the establishment experts was along the lines of:

• Omicron is yet to be fully understood
• It appears to cause less serious illness than Delta as it attacks the air passages higher up than the lungs
• The fatality rate and hospitalisation rate for those who contract Omicron so far appear significantly lower than Delta
• However it could still kill and could still send you to hospital.
• Most significantly it is spreading much faster and infecting far more people.

So Joe you may well be right but from what I've heard I wouldn't assume Omicron cannot kill you, not to mention we just don't know a lot yet about long term effects.
Get well soon, to everyone who currently has it.
Oh yeah and the other message is do not try to get infected on purpose, which apparently some people are doing.

They are reporting hospitalisation cases, icu and deaths WITH covid. Does not necessarily mean they are admitted, receiving treatment or died FROM covid. Because omicron is so contagious, people can be asymptomatic but test positive to it. People can go to hospital and then get covid in there. So the numbers are not a true reflection of what is happenning. I am not sure why they don't clarify.

I debated if i should post this but here goes

I am a pretty fit 44 year old (no pre existing conditions, not over weight and...I might add...decent looking athough that is not relevant to the story) who rarely if ever gets sick. Also as a family man we have been pretty much in iso not by choice but due to the fact that when you have kids really do you have any sort of life?

After feeling unwell for a couple of days I did a third RAT which came back positive. I am incredibly thankful that I am double vac'd as this has been pretty bad. After a rough day or two I am slowly starting to feel better. This is not like any cold or flu I have ever had

Clearly this virus hits everyone in different ways - I hate to think how sick I would have been without the double jab
