Michael Ennis

So maybe, all the media talk about Ennis, was just more bullsh1t to try and destabilise us further.

As for Ennis leaving, no surprise, he doesn't last anywhere very long and certainly hasn't got a great resume in terms of "helping" a team improve.

Was it accepted that Mestrov approached Ennis to take over as head coach in 2028?

Interesting development.

Has Manly gone in a different direction to transition to head coach?

Or is the heir apparent departure about Manly's lack of $$$.

Will we see an incoming assistant?

There is also a school of thought that transitioning from assistant to head coach can be problematic because the relationships with players is necessarily of a different nature. So a year gap might even make it easier to later come back in and take the reins??
Just guessing.

Interesting though, thinking of the 'greatest' coaches, their player management skills seem more important than their tactical nous (with the possible exception of warren Ryan). Ennis is said to be good at that, not so sure about Ballin

We need a real motivator coaching this squad and on the basis of what Chat Townsend had to say about Ennis he sounds like our man.

It's a popular opinion and I don't disagree, other than to point out there's more than one way to motivate people.

We (Manly) (and any club that want to be successful) need the players to be self-motivated. Which obviously anyone that's got to first grade will be.

The coach's most important skill might be persuading the entire squad that his strategy is the one that will give them the best chance of success.

This would require firstly the ability to think up a convincing strategy players can believe in, and second, the ability to effectively communicate this sound strategy to the players.

Neither of which necessarily involves yelling or humiliating people (or avoiding at all costs ever publicly expressing pride in their losing efforts). (To my mind anyway).

I'll wait till after Friday to decide how I think Seibold has gone, and whether he can take Manly any further. One point that comes to mind - I can't really think of any past (or present coaches) he reminds me of?

Whilst Ballin is being linked with a return to Manly by some. There is equally plenty of talk he could be on the move to the Gold Coast.
Interesting, but why wouldn't be have moved prior to Des getting sacked? Only reason I can see him going there, is for Foran.
He definitely was but cocked it up by showing his true colours as a bit of a politician, along with his agent making it uncomfortable for the club
Given Ballin has the same manager, I imagine that's likely also problematic on that front? Would evidence Ballin going to the GC instead.

I'd prefer Ballin to be back at Manly, by any means.

The club, and particularly Mestrov, are likely just paranoid about Mimi's and the power of agents. This probably stems from when Tartak had enough power to kick Foran out for the Shoe. The player agent list they released in 2023 regarding Cove Agency, that springs to mind as well.

I have no doubt player agents in general are shady manipulators and some are even more cunning and less ethical than others - but crediting Tartak with that decision is excusing those who really made the decision, namely person or persons at Manly.

Yeah, I don't remember the inner-workings of that saga too well. Wasn't on Silvertails at this point.

I'm going to assume that 2022 had leaks exploding out, all across this forum? Chaotic year that one.

Interesting year. As you can see (below), at the time it wasn't seen as a disaster signing

“Josh has shown his commitment to playing his best football in a Sea Eagles jersey by signing long term for our club on less financial terms than he could of got elsewhere and for less than his current contract,’’

This Woodsie comment summed up the reaction of many at the time
Good on him ... and well done to the club ..
Not to mention, as you will have noticed even as a relatively new Silvertail - there's a vocal number here who hate retaining old players, as it might lead to talented youngsters moving on!

Yea,i could give it to yourself .
Is the truth sometimes hard to bear?
Only when that "truth" keeps coming from the same old, boring, broken record.

You got a source for that "truth" yet?

You seem to be pretty good at reading into situations when they suit you, yet happy to accept rumours at face value when they suit you too.

Must be great fun being inside your head.

So what is it Spoony? Truths, opinions or rumours. U seem confused on the bad press against Spoony.
Nothing that has come out contradicts this.
