Again this is 'lets demean the only player in the team over the past decade who had consistently given his all for the team.' Lets again blame him for joining the Titans in 2015 after withdrawing their offer to him because of a time limit given. They didn't do that to Foran and even upped their offer to stop him joining the Eels. As a consequence they lost both of them and only quick intervention by Fulton saved their bacon. Lets then blame DCE for failing to give us a premiership, even though the side was a) being poorly coached by a novice b) the club blundered with salary cap issues and fined $750,000 and had $660,000 deducted from their salary cap maximum over two years 3) their top attacking player in Turbo was absent for 50% of the time over 4-5 years. 4) they secured no stable 5/8 for a dedae to take the pressure off DCE.

My opinion. DEC surpasses Toovey as the best half we have ever had. We just didn't have a team around him to take us to challenge for the premiership. I can think of very few half backs with the range of skills he has and the endurance he has shown. He has given his all for the club and yet cops bashings from the very supporters who should be lauding his efforts. He's not God. But there are few players I can recall over the past 60 years of watching Manly, who I had greater respect for. Good luck to him what ever he chooses to do. He's earned his money at the Sea Eagles and more and I for one thank him for the efforts he has shown..

The Manly Way
DCE isn’t the first to fall victim to the front office mismanagement
He should’ve ended as a one club legend
It’s the sad reality of player management and club officianados playing hard ball with each other, with no regard for the game
Hey Crockett, when did you ditch Tubbs and link up with Spike Jones?

Asking for a friend.

Did anyone actually watch this?

Feels like no judging by the comments. For me if you believe Mestrov then I am not sure what the club has done wrong.

He said the club was told in December by DCE that he would not be at the club in 2026 and they kept the news quiet etc

I totally agree about DCE's on-field performances. He is the best half we've ever had. BUT
to disrespect the club and we fans by declaring he'll not play for Manly beyond this season when -- he claims -- he's had no approaches from another club, has turned me against him.
If it was leaving to make more money then I could cop it, reluctantly.
It doesn't pass the pub test: who leaves a job before having options?
Why announce it on national TV? He should, at least, have had the decency to keep discussions private. I'm told that DCE is a wonderful bloke and father. His family is settled and happy on the peninsular, so what is his motivation?
DCE can make a good living in the media or coaching once he hangs up the boots. In my eyes he has damaged his fine reputation, and if I've got the 'facts' wrong then he needs to clarify the situation quickly or else a large portion of the fans at Brookie on Sunday will be booing, not cheering, him.

There are just a couple of things that did not gel with me in that - “we all know Daly can play another 2 years” (because Mestrov was very pointed on this yet it has been widely reported Manly had offered 1 + 1) and “the first formal offer was today” (wtf)

I get that he is saying they thought Chez was gone but nothing in either interview tells me how they went from THAT respectful conversation in December to finding out in late-March that Chez was about to go on 100% Footy to say “no more Manly”…

It may have been a miscommunication, it may be BS on one or both parties’ part but I cannot fathom how a guy that has played a record number of games with the club goes from a “respectful conversation” in December to not giving the club any opportunity to retain him when he “changed his mind and decided to play on in the NRL”… particularly as, if you listen to Chez, he still has not actually made that call…

even if the rorters HAVE come in with a massive offer, SURELY he gives Manly right of reply if the relationship was as strong as they are all making out… and maybe he has done that and both parties are sitting on that information… how would you know…

Make it make sense…

All of this could of been avoided by DCE by just making an announcement at the end of Manly's season that this was his last year. Then, after a week of pondering in November he's decided he wants to go around again, so be it, no damage done to Manly or DCE. But by doing it this way after only 3 games in he's decided to go with this route,... now I know it's all about the money.

120%

DCE is an Elite halfback
Mestov is no Elite CEO
I know who I would rather keep
If he was THAT elite we’d have won another premiership !!!

In fact since the big “ back flip “ & huge contract , we have won , diddly squat !!

Mestrov is a very very good CEO who is trying to balance up the roster.

We’ll go backwards for a few years , but I have a feeling Mestrov will prevail in the future.

DCE doesn't warrant any booing. He is a Manly great, no matter what happens the next 2 years. Same as 1976 grand final winning season Manly when Fulton then went to the Roosters for 2 seasons and won nothing.

Remember in the video below when some wanted to boo Ron Gibbs in 1987 and the hill had that sign give back Randall's jumper (see start of the video). But most of Brookie that day cheered him. Rambo thanked the southern hill crowd after scoring a first half try (at 7:55). The mid week drama was huge but Manly flogged the 1986 premiers Dogs

CEO's big moves to date.
1. Sacks Des after Rainbow gate
2. Appoints Seibs
3. The Schuster extension.
4. Extends and upgrades the the main perpetrator of Rainbow gate.
5. Now this. Regardless of how we see this should have been handled, times up. These 2 and Penn are sub standard and won't last. B graders, should be on the committee of a regional greyhound club together.

Alternatively

1) gets rid of a coach that was going no where
2) grabs a modern age coach who was screwed over by his previous club.
3) extended what was , at the time , a very talented kid , who was to know he’d go off the rails.
4) I’m not an AoA fan but I believe he was wrongly accused of being the perpetrator, he was , just the most senior poly player , and one single time told the collective story about how it was an affront to their religion. But I can’t disagree as I wouldn’t have extended & upgraded him
5) Penn is an absentee owner , that is a fact but it is what it is , Mestrov however is a country mile ahead of the next best CEO we’ve had in years. He’s going great guns with the business model , we’ve got more members than ever and he’s communicative with the members / fans.

We will ALL dislike particular signings , extensions , upgrades but all of those won’t gone down to just Mestrov, it’ll be a collective decision.

DCE said it is to help Manly for 2026, it sounds like a fair go from the man and a decent thing to do.. But after today it appears he is a lying grub, like our Management. Neither side are squeaky clean after todays press reports. Cant wait for the next "days of our lives" instalment tonight, on NRL360.

On the surface, it seemed to me that Manly had made an absolute mess of this situation.

Just watched the 100% interview and I'm not so sure now it was a complete stuff up by the club.

Lots of fumbling from DCE including contradictions of his own words from only moments before and of course the obvious stuttering when attempting to make his point. He also seemed very nervous and he never shows nerves in interviews.

I don't believe there is much point going into who said what. Body language to me is a very large indicator of the situation. So yeah, I have strong doubts now about the story DCE is attempting to put forward.

Plenty of media over the last week were indicating that they couldn't see him leaving a club where he could complete his NRL career with one of the greatest legacies. Clubs have also come out today saying they haven't bothered as the believed the same thing. They were all wrong it seems!

Never thought I would say this but maybe Choc was right?
Choc was right

It’s hard to know what went down , Penn is back in the country and all of a sudden the SH#*T hits the fan . Not blaming Penn but …
The telling factor in this saga is that DCE wants to play , maybe doesn’t , maybe overseas but Manly are not in the conversation
For me it’s hard to understand why you wouldn’t want to finish your career at a club you played all your senior footy with all your close mates and still on good money and a team capable of playing finals footy
It doesn’t add up

Very slimey and misleading from both sides, but Chez has done all this before, and is doing it again, claiming he's doing it for Manly, c'mon mate, seriously? He wants a last pay day, OK, fair enough, good luck to him, it's a very clever ploy and it will work, it worked last time, but doing it for Manly? Please. You are not only potentially derailing our season, but also creating a greedy, sideshow disturbance for other players and teams, as well as Manly. If you were thinking about the club, you would accept a realistic figure, which I'm sure would be lucrative enough, to help with the transition. Let's face it, he's not going to be short of money, he'll walk straight into a gig with either coaching, media or neck shaving ads. The media carry on again is very poor form from him, yes, he's been a good player for us but his legacy is definitely tarnished.
