DCE says he informed Seibold and Gentle this from December, and had "reliable talks" with the club, so that they knew his position. He claims there was no offer on the table from Manly unless another club made a formal offer.

Mestrov and Penn have clearly been blind-sided on the other hand, with them offering him the literal entirety of our remaining cap for 2026 & 2027, a grand sum of $1.5 million across both years, and being so surprised that they offered said contract immediately through NRL 360, live.

Something is not adding up here. One of these sides are lying.

This should have been dealt with in December and to do this after round 3 derails any positive that the team has done.

Its dreadful to know that the club after the event offers him a deal, that is humiliating!!

In 2015 we all watched DCE and Foran play ducks and drakes about their deals and the drama that went on week after week totally killed that season and saw the demise as Toovey as coach.

If DCE thinks the fans will accept this easily he has another thing coming, fans resent players who do this at the start of a season and no one will be happy in spite of the club legend he is.

I'll forgive him if he wins us another premiership. I was hoping he would leave anyway, I'd only want the club to keep him if it was for something like $400k. We need a hooker and to bolster our pack before we can seriously challenge for the title. Onitoni Large has the makings of a generational talent, and I wouldn't be surprised if he has a breakout debut season as early as next year.

Oh the Drama. I don’t think it really matters now. DCE is going and what will make or break our administration is how we fare next season onwards…
Personally I would prefer DCE to stay for another season but beyond that is really defying Mother Nature. I can’t see him playing at an elite level at 38 -39 I remember Jonathan Thurstons last season it was not pretty for the most part.. and I think he was 37.

To make themselves look better as they know he’s signed elsewhere and he’s changed the rhetoric saying they didn’t offer him a deal so they publicallt contact the media to release that they have. It puts it back on Daly.

Long Negotiations turn into rumors , gossip and soap operas that potentially destabilises the club and this is what has happened
Every Player manager approaches the club way before their clients contracts ends
The club knew what they were prepared to Value DCE from the start
They also Knew what their Elite halfback was worth on the open market and what he wanted
and they should have ended the Negotiations there and then and make a statement
Not in the beginning of this year .
