Membership battle heats up

THE Manly Warringah Sea Eagles will continue to target schools across the northern beaches and north shore over the coming week in their bid to lift their membership numbers.

The Sea Eagles have signed more than 1000 new members, young and old, over the past week.

The club is currently vying for $10,000 from the NRL in their Battle of the Beaches membership race with the Roosters and Sharks.

The competition ends this afternoon with the Sea Eagles cracking 6000 members late yesterday, and closing the gap on the Roosters (6136).

“It’s been a great success,” Sea Eagles official Peter Peters said of Manly’s membership recruitment drive.

“We will be hitting the schools this week and we are expecting a lot more members to join.”

The Sea Eagles will visit schools in Narraweena, Mona Vale, Northbridge and Chatswood today, and drop in to schools in country NSW across the weekend.

For membership information, log on to: mwse.com.au or contact the Sea Eagles via phone on 9970 3000.

It's a great initiative.

Giving away memberships to younger people, in the hope they get hooked and then become paying members later in life.

AND, even if they dont get much money from it, just imagine if those 1000 kids bring along mum and dad to a few games....suddenly 3000 more through the game (2000 of whom will have paid).

Who cares give EVERY child in the Northern Beaches a membership!

Agreed.  The club should do a thing with both councils and include a free membership for every house with a kid along with the rate notice.

Bugger all in it with an arvo to go

Lunch update

Roosters 1702
Sea Eagles 1676
Sharks 1662

Cmon get those last few in for the 10K

In a galvanising show of support, the Hisense Cronulla Sharks have had endured a club record membership growth to claim the Battle of the Beaches Premiership.

In the space of five days, the Sharks have more than doubled their total membership base, suggesting that support of the black, white and blue still burns strong.

Kicking off the race with the launch of the Father-Son Membership and an inspirational message from Club Legend David Peachey, the Sharks then took to the streets and the Cronulla Mall/Esplanade in a local call to arms.

Fans then flocked to Harvey Norman Caringbah with the launch of the Harvey Norman Bays before Jeremy Smith and Paul Gallen rounded out the week by chatting with the Sharks 18,000 Facebook fans as part of the Facebook Frenzy drive.
"This is great for the club... Everyone has contributed and it's a great boost for us," Sharks head coach, Shane Flanagan, said.
