Members Council Feedback

  • We had an issue with background services between march 10th and 15th or there about. This meant the payment services were not linking to automatic upgrades. If you paid for premium membership and are still seeing ads please let me know and the email you used against PayPal and I cam manually verify and upgrade your account.
My 2 cents

I have never understood we have not offered some form of digital only membership. This would be at a low cost (2 dollars a month) or bundled into the other membership tiers

Whilst the content has improved over the past year there would still be a place for my indepth digital content..off the top of my head

  • Injury updates (behind a paywall so could be relatively secure for the club)
  • Lower grade player info – similar to the Hazzard piece we just saw but more often…including under 18’s etc.
  • Something similar to Tommy talks
  • Daily updates on plans
  • Manly based minute by minute game coverage

It would not be hard to set up and run….to be honest I would be happy to do it with the club as a revenue share agreement…

Cool, Just post it c/o ge, Canada!

Membership offerings - 5 game membership came with cardboard passes for game entry. So I have 5 memberships
X 5 game day passes - this is messy, annoying & we could well lose some on the way to the ground or around the house. A quality member’s car sticker is all I want in future. Forget key rings, lanyards etc. Credit to the club for giving options around hat, scarf etc.
In terms of incentives reward loyalty with experiences not trinkets. Get some 20 year members special seats (don’t have to be on halfway), they could socialise with a club legend at HT, their name could be flashed up on the scoreboard before the game etc.

Hi Wheel,

I'm not sure of the legalities around it but i have always thought that it would be cool if each player had their own song that gets played when they score a try. Kind of like a wrestlers entrance music. Each player would pick their own music and the fans would get to know it. Just a bit of a different spin on the game day experience.
I guarantee I would hate every song.

Mals- 5 individual passes were provided based on previous feedback with the benefit being you could use your 5 game membership at games of your choice rather than 5 separate games eg you could get 5 entries to one match and bring friends rather than 1 entry at 5 matches. Will pass feedback on though

To stop us fans having to rely on the media to inform us on player injuries !! Us Members should be informed at the end of each week by an email of any injuries picked up during training or games before the media report it !!
A lot of these stories are leaked by player managers to their mates in media before the club has all the facts or have being advised.

The recent Danny Levi signing was a case in point, all over the media but the club announced immediately that they were notified of contract acceptance by NRL (which was a few days later)

Ok @The Wheel i am feeling inspired now.... wo whilst I said I would shut up, I want to build on something @lsz posted:

What is one of the biggest pet hates of us as fans (particularly those who can't attend in person?) BIASED CRAPPY COVERAGE from Nein and Fox.

So, to build on the idea of a digital membership, i would GLADLY wait until the next day after a game and pay $5/month for a completely biased, manly fan commentary version of the game on NRL.com

I only care about our players, how we are playing etc. One eyed eagles commentary is what I want.... i would bloody pay for that (and i KNOW it can't be live.....)

Generally the (ice) hockey is like that.

EG: The canucks have their own commentators, John and Shorty and their commentary is Canuck centred though they obviously know the names of both teams.

So whether in attack or defence, John and shorty are usually mentioning the canuck players.

Trouble with the nrl is that they swing media jobs to past players who they have promised money to, to stay with certain clubs so numbers are limited and usually to boofheads.

The other thing is that it'd still need to be professional. I like Cuzzo but his guest spot on some reserve grade game last year was kinda cringeworthy (but he was sitting with the opposition so maybe it was ok).

I also don't wanna hear yobbos just swearing for 80 minutes, that's my job at home. Prob one of the reasons I gave up on a certain podcast, too many inside jokes and about 40% profanities when I dunno, a bit about the footy would be nice.

Also, there's no real way it couldn't be live. Even unofficially if there were a couple of decent performers could even 'live stream' their commentary.

Also @The Wheel , it seems like I'm alone but I don't really mind about the injury situation. If it's fresh, don't hand the info to the opposition, but in cases like AFB and Jake, then yes, let us know how it's going. The paseska injury info was handled well...wasn't it?

Definitely under the radar applies to what is/isn’t released - we would all like to get inside info first but there are reasons why the club keeps things in house not because they are slack and couldn’t be bothered letting Members know.

Maybe the club could utilize aSilvertails commentary team - Mick and Ryan come to mind with Technical Coach on the sidelines for expert comments.

However it should be noted that the club does run on the smell of an oily rag so there are limitations on what they can do/provide. I know they would like to be doing a lot more across all aspects but they have budget constraints etc.

This is why i suggest it be a $5/month 'digital membership'

I am a club member, get added to the 'numbers' and get the live commentary for my payment.

I can turn that on, and the volume down on my TV and listen!

Its a winner.

2000 x digital members = $10k/month. Surely production costs and presenters could be done on the cheap. They don't need to even be at the game, just have all of the angles available (ala the Bunker?)

Make it available to overseas sea eagles fans and you probably pick up another 500 members who would never part with their money otherwise..... or interstaters

I can do the business case if you like! :call:

Hell I will be a commentator via Skype!!!!!!

You're right in the fact that anyone can do it. If enough people wanna tune in to your skype, or "live podcast" or whatever then it doesn't even need to be club approved.

Then if people like what they are hearing, it's all good. Didn't fox try something where you could get Hindy and...Fletch commentary. Trouble with that was, and many others make, is that Fletch thought he had to be funny with everything he said.

nice idea

maybe it should be an add on to the @Ella Kasmar NRL Supporter initiative?

Supporter commentary!

Thanks all, I have collated all feedback and sent to the club in preparation for the meeting next week.

Before everyone gets too excited about commentary teams and replays etc initial feedback is that the digital content inc. sound/vision is held tightly via the Broadcast agreements (ie club has no discretion in that regards)

As suggested in earlier posts a lot of ticketed members probably cannot go to every game because some of them are unfriendly time slots for children and because of work

The club's only prize should be a winning team however they could offer ticketed members something

Perhaps every time a ticked member attends a game they receive a ticket which is then drawn halfway through the season and for the last home game of the season for say a fully catered open box?

20 year members perhaps receive some sort of game day experience - watch the game from the dugout? Carry des' bags for the day?

Totally understand that mate.... it was wishful thinking no doubt!

Mind you - with an upcoming TV deal to be negotiated, its worth throwing onto the table! Sea Eagles TV channel on Foxtel???? Shows nothing but manly games, past games, bios on players, biased commentary and live coverage of every training session.

What a money spinner! hahahah
