Max Krilich

Bombthrower- always remember a tied game at Brookie against the Bears, where he stepped up to convert from the sidelines on full time and win us the match. :inlove:

One tough mother >:)

I wonder if he'd make the grade today? He was a hooker, and that position exists in name only. Would he have been a dummy half?

I think he would.

His passing game would be a revelation to the modern hookers. :wait:

He and Alan Thompson used to throw the ball halfway across the field. Beautiful precision that we no longer see @

Max also tackled hard and could kick when required.

His face bears the scars from many years in a scrum 😱

I recall a few years ago, Max was visiting one of my good mates. They were reviewing some footage for a SOO presentation when they watch a clip where Eadie creamed an Easts player with a raised forearm to the jaw. Straight away Max rings Wombat has a go at him for being a thug and while he was talking, the clip of him against Wests at Brooky and walked up to a Wests player and king hit him came on. Good times.

I love Max. and I love Manly 72-83, but Max would be killed in todays game. Trouble is, he would keep getting up! He was very tenacious, canny and tough,,,wonderful footballer who wore his Manly Sea Eagle heart on his sleeve.
When he got dropped from first grade for the last time, he captain coached the reserve grade...true story! Love MAX to the MAX

1978 no GF was harder

Maroon & White & Arterial Red 😀

Hilditch hit him with a high one in the 76 GF and when Max got up his nose resembled a swastika....
And of course he played on.

Oh Who, almost sacrilege there x 2, or how many?

but now that you mention it Max had a very similar passing style to Api....

Api will be in a GF team at the SE

I think you need to review your 'reality'

I apologise in advance, but Maxy would have gone just as good today, and maybe better, just like Roy Bull would have.

Yeah I think so.
Great players are great players in any era.
Considering they were part timers back then as opposed to the pampered full time professionals of today
They all carry on about Smith but I've never seen him win a scrum through his hooking yet the like of Cochrane and Elias did that and we're great in the open.
Max wasn't like that but his tenacity would get him through.

Manly premiership team captain

Say no more dead set legend and all time favourite

Still got his signed jumper after a game st Sydney sports ground

By the way we beat them easily after a hard first half

Beetson was the coach and in them days sat near the fans

Put crap on him all game and he took it all

RIP ARTIE

Go captain courageous

Fine Post!

and I'd be more than happy to see a 1958 Rex Mossop in the starting team this week.......more than happy

In the 76 Grand Final there is a dust up between him and Dennis Fitzgerald. He landed a few back on him and given my dislike of Fitzgerald I have re-watched it a few times. Loved Max, especially in '78.

He could scoot along, break a tackle, swerve and (from memory) could step too.

Look at the first two tests against GB in 1978 for proof.

I remember him making some big metres vs Parramatta at Lottovale in 1981. Probably the best on the ground and he displayed his goalkicking skills too.
