Matai and Stewart

Absolute legends. I want an opportunity to farewell both and say thank you for over a decade of pure joy at watching them play. Please make it happen club.

Read the other day they want to give them a celebration at Brooky, however until the retirement saga is sorted, the club is not allowed.

I'd love to see Steve Matai come back.

It is amazing the difference between this year and last year at fullback; a crippled Brett Stewart that was trying to protect himself at every opportunity to TT who is taking forward hitups and trying to get his hands on the ball at all times.

Unfortunately I can't unseen Snake's last games.

I'm a bit worried about our depth with Brett and Steve taking such a large amount of the salary cap. It appears Greenberg will not apply the same rules as he gave parra with Watmough. Maybe Matai and Stewart could be useful if needed.

I think they are gone mate.
We just have to get used to that.
The superior beings that they were just aren't anymore.....
Sadly.

No fond farewell for Stewart and Matai

Plans for Manly to officially farewell Brett Stewart and Steve Matai look to be dead and buried.

The Sea Eagles had hoped to send the two champions off with a lap of honour around Brookie Oval before a home game, but time is running out.

Manly have already played three home games and have back-to-back Lottoland games in early April.

It's then a long break before they are back on the northern beaches.

The club has reached out to Matai and Stewart but nothing has been agreed.

Stewart, in particular, has nothing to do with the club despite still being on the payroll.

All too late I feel, Brett's in another space now just wants his money and nothing else, bloody sad really!
