Massive turning point today

First Grader
Look we were smoked
Storm came to town and killed us
But 1 thing
After falling behind after a 3 try blitz 1st half, Manly kicked hard and finished the half well on top though down 18 - 10
Early 2nd half, Ben T gets tackled half way with Jerome Hughes, hanging on like a leach, Ben plays it "with his foot" and Manly get Penalised ???
Storm score on the back of it and Manly don't touch the ball the next 10 minutes and score blows out to 40 - 10
Again, the better team by a landslide was Storm, but that pi##ed me off big time. as against Storm you can't afford to give an inch and that was a mile imo

It was a bad call but I think we were already gone by then. For me the real killer was Garrick kicking out on the full. You cannot keep inviting the storm into your half and hope to get away with it

That was one of several.

For example: if Garrick had not fluffed a kickoff after Melbourne’s first try. That immediately led to two more Melbourne tries.

Or, Koula not passing to an unmarked Faulolo, which would have been our first try.

Then there was a signature headless chook moment from you know who, which led to a momentum shift in the second half. That might have been before the Burbo moment.

Edit: I see LtM has just raised that last one.

The speed of the storms game, was the turning point, we were gassed 10 mins in, Garricks kick was a killer, Burbos penalty killed any come back (think he was hard done by on that one) totally exposed by a superior side, with superior line speed, fitness…….ah why bother

They basically try to play touch football. Every contact they are diving for the ground trying to hit their chest. I dont like it but it’s effective. Those times where they scored their points we couldn’t stop them.

We need new young forwards with some grunt, surely we must have one or two.
It seems Waddell, Sips and Alaio are not good enough and won’t be that player we need.
Their pack looked like monsters and treated our forwards like kids.
Aloiai didn't play mate lol

I do agree with your sentiment though. I think this a long term side effect of the Trbojevic contracts which have hamstrung us (pun intended). We simply can't afford someone to partner Paseka effectively, and now we've lost him.

Deserves a new thread?
Maybe
Something along the lines
"Manly have no resilience" ?
Fact is, I found the call strange at the time and really changed the games momentum, but Manly folded like a deck of cards and any side who wants to be a serious show will overcome this type of call...regardless of Manly lacking backbone, the call definitely had an impact
