* :yeah:MANLY yesterday confirmed they are trying to talk captain Ben Kennedy out of retirement.
Rumours have swept the NRL in recent weeks that 32-year-old Kennedy may not be making his premiership swansong after all, with talks taking place behind the scenes for him to stay at Brookvale in 2007.
"We have had talks with him," Sea Eagles managing director Paul Cummins said.
"We'd love him to go around again next season and the players in the side would love to see him go around too."
Although Australian international Ben Creagh has been identified as a possible replacement, Manly will be keeping salary cap space open for Kennedy over the next few weeks as negotiations continue.
"At the moment he is adamant that this will be his last year," Cummings said.
"It's not that he doesn't want to play, it's his body telling him he can't put himself through this anymore."
