Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club Board

Member Update

A lot has happened at the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in the past year.

Since the Sea Eagles were privatised back in 2004 there has been some confusion around the various Boards and structure of the Club.

The entity of which you are a member, the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club, exists to protect its members’ interests in regards to the Sea Eagles through the Preference Share.

The Sea Eagles were privatised in order to survive - a hangover from the dark days of the Super League split and the unhappy experience of the Northern Eagles which left the Sea Eagles in a precarious financial situation.

Privatisation was agreed upon by the Football Club members, and all past and present owners, with the condition that the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club would hold thePreference Share which determines the name of the team, the colours they play in, where they play their home games and two seats on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Board, the company that runs the management and operations of the team.

Our new Facebook page has some useful information to help clarify the current structure and is well worth a visit. We also look forward to receiving your input. (See the link at the bottom of this email for the Facebook page.)

In light of recent events it's important that as members we continue to support the team and their efforts to reach this year's semi-finals.

It's been a tough year for the team with injuries but the Manly culture is what other teams envy and the last two games have shown the true Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles’ fighting spirit.

What can you do as a MWRLFC member for your team?

• Continue your Football Club membership

• Encourage your family members, friends, co-workers and colleagues to become members. They can sign up at http://membership.manlyfootballclub.com.au

• Get in contact with us, anyway you like, via Facebook, Email, Phone, in person, and tell us what you think.

Membership entitles you to a voice in the direction of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. If you’ve been a member for more than 3 years, it entitles you to voting rights at the bi-annual election for the board of directors of the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club.

After the announcement that Geoff Toovey won't be head coach of the Sea Eagles next year, and our statement to the media and the members, we were inundated with feedback.

The common message was the support you have for Geoff Toovey, the team, the coaching staff and the traditions that make the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles so successful.

We all want the Sea Eagles to prosper, be successful and win premierships.

We need as many people as possible to buy season tickets, become members of the Football Club, the Sea Eagles, the Leagues Club and of course get to the games.

Nothing beats a full house at Fortress Brookvale and over the coming weeks we hope to see more and more of you there wearing your maroon and white - with your flags.

We would also like to invite you to an informal get together at the Leagues Club before the Round 24 game against our old arch rival, the Parramatta Eels, on Sun 23 Aug 2015.

All are welcome, come for lunch, a drink and a chat. Representatives of the Football Club board will be present from 1-3pm with the game kicking off at 4pm.

See you soon and Go Manly!

Board members:

Bob Stevenson
Bob Reilly

A lot of good people there . I have either met or spoken on the phone to all of them at some stage and have found them all to be great passionate Manly people . It is a shame though not all get along well with each other . I guess it is like any normal family and even the Silvertail forum family.
At least we all love the Manly Warringah Sea eagles :)

This release was a lot less inflammatory than the last one.
Good to see.
