Match Stats

Good , gritty win, Warriors came to play and very willing .
Manly did well to hold their game together and some of those ref 's calls , regularly giving the Warriors a leg up had to be on the dubious side .
Largely handled the pressure well and some good enough touches to get the job done .
Thought that Burbo went quite well , deft touches and another classy role from Turbo and Jake had some fairly important input as well . Thought that Saab and Lehi had quite solid games as well Gordy certainly does not lack any courage
Bit of an off night for Bully but sure that he can bounce back and get into a good grind again
Things to still work on obviously but considering the 2 nd half conditions and a bit of other adversity , fairly pleasing win again

That DCE 40/20 with the wind against us was the play of the game for sure. Saab 4 line breaks highly impressive. Turbo Tom - 2 line break assists and 2 try assists he is getting back to his best. Aloiai and Bullemor didn't miss any tackles. Olakau'atu 89 post contact metres. And we had 80% completions which was fantastic considering the conditions.

Does anyone know if we will get to play our home semi final at Brookie if we come 5th or 6th? Or will we have to play it at one of the big Sydney stadiums?

Seriously NRL. Garrick charged for a hip drop in an open tackle from a bomb? Really?

And none of the other "On Repporrrrrtttttt!!!!!!!!!" called by the officials against Manly amounted to anything. And only one of those called on Warriors too.

Reuben Garrick (Sea Eagles)Grade 1 Dangerous Contact2nd OffenceTBC$1800-$2500 fine

The Warriors were playing with a compressed middle, which was a big factor in why we were struggling to make metres, but also in why there was room for our outside backs to make breaks.

I would have been ok with him getting a week just for the sake of seeing what a backline of:

Turbo
Hoppa
Talau
Koula
Saab

Would be like.

And yet it makes no difference to the NRL officials going forward that all but one of those "On report" amounted to nothing. They will do exactly same next round giving the same interfering non-existent penalties again round after round.

Warriors are a good team, Manly had to scrap hard to keep afloat in this game. Credit to them, they did that, plus produced a few touches of class the get the win.
SS Sea Eagle still on course!
The Warriors good team perspective

Warriors are a good team on paper but this season they have underperformed and as a results they have been incapable of being in the top 8 all season and now they lie way down the ladder on 14th spot where they deserve

They have been a frustrating team to watch and have been consistently full of flaws and flounder at their inconsistent good effort's and winning leads

Their coach has failed produce the goods to lift his team and to qualify for a final finish with a quality Warriors team on paper
Warriors are clearly one of the disappointments and underachievers of the year.

NRL FOX Summed up the Warriors Season after another 2024 Woeful loss

‘In all sorts’: Rumours around Warriors unrest laid bare — and stars’ slide that can’t be ignored

The Warriors endured one of the darkest days of their 30-year history when thrashed 66-6 by the Titans, and in order to avoid an ugly slide, two star players have been urged to lift.
‘The Wahs’ were a dominant force in 2023, going down to the Broncos one game before the grand final, whilst rookie coach Andrew Webster earned Dally M coach of the year honours.
However, this season the Warriors have been a shadow of their former selves, allowing Des Hasler’s outfit to rack up the highest score in the history of the Titans club.
“They were disgraceful... The Warriors were disgusting,” veteran journalist Brent Read said in a scathing assessment on NRL360.
“They were diabolical on the day, but if you look at those two sides on paper, you tell me how many people would have been prepared to tip the Gold Coast Titans,” Fox League’s James Hooper added.
“What’s wrong with the Warriors? They were terrible,” asked NRL360 host Braith Anasta.
NRL legend Gorden Tallis believes the team’s star players aren’t standing up, however Read thinks the form slump could stem from something deeper.
“They’re big players aren’t (performing). Last year when we were singing their praises... Shaun Johnson was running the ship, they were gritty, it was all the things that weren’t common with the Warriors,” Tallis said.

Missed the game live but managed to steer clear of media and watch a replay later. I was somewhat astonished by Butler’s refereeing. It wasn’t the worst I’ve seen, but surely we could have expected a bit more to fall our way at home?

Very impressed by the grit and attitude of the team when things weren’t going our way. That was a mature performance and I can say without a doubt, Seibs has certainly improved this team beyond anything I’ve watched this last decade. (I don’t count 2021 because V’Landy Ball was an anomaly that we just lucked into).

Butler put about 14 blokes on report last night...only 2 actually charged.

So is the ref/bunker wrong, or the MRC?

They can't ever seem to consistently get on the same pages as each other.

I guess if its marginal they put them on report just so it gets checked by MRC. TBH i don't really care if they get on report or not, because if they have done something it will just get picked up later anyway.

Great to read about Gutho’s and the media’s complaints about the Roosters’ (gold-plated stadium’s) playing surface last night, suffering by comparison with the Brookvale surface.*

Remember how Pineapple Head complained about the old Brookvale surface some years back, after one of the Morris brothers picked up a leg injury?

What goes around comes around.

*Even Shaun Johnson last night said what a great experience it was, playing at the new look Stadium Brookvalia.

I still clearly remember the way the two matches of the season were refereed at Vegas to an audience largely unfamiliar with the rules of RL. It was great, with only blatant indiscretions ruled upon. The refs had a feel for the flow of the match, and we got two cracker spectacles as a result.
I feel I have a good grasp of the RL rules, having watched and played the sport for 60+ years. But I'm frequently mystified by some of the current rulings/interpretations. It seems refs want to be the centre of attention, and it's infuriating. That clown last night had more of an influence last night than he should have.
The NRL should get back to instructing the refs, and The Bunker, to let the abilities of the two teams decide the outcome, not the bit-players.
A good ref is one you don't notice.

Well, I care...as it invariably costs a penalty on field as well as the rubbish report.

And after watching the first 17 minutes of the Dogs Dolphins game, it's like a repeat of our game last night.

Maybe a new directive from the NRL?

If something is worthy of going on report then it is ALWAYS a penalty.

Must be a NRL directive ,, refs please fuk up the game more than u usually do , go out of your way to make the game as unwatchable as possible and reveal yourselves as the true stars of the game , never forget refs you are bigger than the game

Sure.
I'm of the opinion that there is a lot of guys getting put on report for incidents that are not even penalty worthy.

For instance, Burton stayed down today for a hip drop not long before halftime, dolphins player on report, and conceded a penalty.
If the MRC come back with nothing to see here, then how was it penalty worthy?

It's either a hip drop, or it's not.....the defender lands on the attackers legs, or he doesn't.
