And yes we remember , the good old days.

I’ve attended every GF since 1973, I was only 17 in 1972 and my parents wouldn’t let me catch the train to Sydney for the game.

Indeed, Mark! I started following Manly around 1967-8, I think. I was playing in Collegians U15s (in Wollongong) in the 'B' team and happened to play alongside Peter Hannigan, Les Hannigan's younger brother. I only played two years, scored my one and only try in my last game of the year and promptly retired - as you do. 😀 My brain is still scarred by the Mike Cleary intercept of Alec Tennant's pass that should have found an unmarked Les to score a potentially match winning try in the '68 final. Even more vivid is the radio call of '...and the only player who could catch him is running the other way!' My therapist says I should move on... I dunno. 😀
