Match Stats

70% possession and a 10 minute sin bin later the game was done
DCE took advantage and lead his team to a big win
We were never really challenged by an ill disciplined possession starved raiders team
But we will take the 2 points and the Big score
Yep, game changes significantly without the sin bin, or even without the obstruction penalty.

Ideally someone can really break through this year in the starting front row role in Tent's absence. Hopefully he returns in 2026 alongside a true partner in the prop rotation.

Anyone see how Navale, Patolo, and Sips did in NSW Cup live? Probably will be Aloiai, Lodge, or Bullemor who come through, but any one of those guys I listed have the potential to break on through to the other (first grade) side. Doors are wide open!

Great win in the end but gee i feel we were lucky that first Canberra Try was ruled out. we had all the possession and the ref was riding us home but the raiders D stood up. we went back and forth but without turbo it was a bit slow and predictable. enter DCE and his golden boot and bam its all over.

Well done to Garrick. great attacking game ( although that first Canberra non try was another bad read rushing up).

Is Paseka just too big for the modern game? such an unlucky guy.

great to see a switch up with the game plan after the first 20 min wasn't working. feel sorry for Weekes. he looked so down after he kicked out on the full.

I thought it was a gritty win. We really stuck at it in the first half and DCE played with patience. We were a little side to side at times in attack but a very good win against a good side without Turbo. Well done lads!
Yep, we score at least twice in that first 20min if Turbo is playing because he straightens the attack and drags defenders in… Lehi played well but too late and too sideways plus he does not have the physical presence of Tom…

Sips was ok but not as dominant as I would have hoped. I like the work Patolo did. Hits hard and made some good runs. Navale ok as well. Good speed and ball work. Not sure about the step up. I think he's worth a go when we're down on troops during Origin if he keeps coming aling. I thouhgt Pua'avase did some good things as well. Work in progress but potential. But Sips looks most likely to return. I reckon.

Tent is a loss but we can compensate any loss in life by Building Resilience
Over to you Seibold .

I’m not being funny but what was the game plan and what did it change to?

It was a danger game for us and after 20 minutes we were in a real dog fight.

The game swings on them having a try rightly ruled out and then the professional foul which opened the door. The team smashed through that door and in 9 minutes won the game playing uptempo and making every attacking kick a contest.

The 2nd half was more even and the team looked out of juice by the 70th minute and that for me is the only concen. In all 3 of our games the team has eased up in last 20 minutes and that is something that needs to be looked at and addressed.

I am gutted for Taniel, that is a nasty injury and hopefully recovery is swift for him.

Amazing how a week changes. Last week we got caned by Gee and this week Atkins canes the Raiders.

I really wish they would ditch this 6 again rubbish. The referee has too much a say and from week to week its a different interpretation. Lets the players decide the game!

So nice to silence the Fox commentators whom adnausem went on and on that we cant win without Tom, such an insult to guys like Levi who handles the full back roll with aplomb.

Next week its the eternal foe, the whinging worms, they will lift for this game and we need to respect them, Do that and another win his highly possible!!

I understand your point here though early on I thought this was on DCE and Brooks as they kept going out the back, Lehi still developing that attacking part of his game, was to be expected the attack not being as clinical without Turbo.

We got two try’s from Canberra dropped balls and two from barge overs, thought the last tty from Garrick was well worked with the kick from DCE and Garricks third try was a good individual effort with the fend on Kris.

When you can win and still have areas that need improvement it’s a good sign, my main concern is the left edge with the ball, Koula looked likely, Brooks is the one that needs to improve the shape on the left.

I think Seibs and his crew need a little bit of credit tonight.

I say that because there was just a lot of our players today, who did a lot of little things of benefit that just didn't do that last year.

1 or 2 may be they just had a good game, but when we notice a difference with 6 or 7...

This teams 1 per centres have improved.

Players are being improved.

And the proof can be in the pudding, a lot went our way but don't worry about that you earn your own luck, when you add all those little things up! They're making a BIG difference.

There was a lot of great signs today's, and that's without the luck.

Agree… I feel Brooks is not backing himself like he did at tigpies and I think it is because he has been given an assignment to play specific structures… there was a chance for him to score in the second half if he took it on but he was looking for the pass…

Needs to play straighter and play into the line a little more… I also think his flat pass to a wide forward should be utilised more… nice ball to Burbo that did not come off but it is a strength of Brooks and should not be put away…

Fair point. Seibold said they'd done a lot of work on the Raiders in prep.

The other thing is how committed Manly was. Back at home after a loss but I'm sure Beau was spoken about before the game as well.
Though not slick in that opening 20 the players had really good concentration, intensity, and attention to detail and simply didn't give the Raiders a chance. I'll add patience to that list, they couldn't score but didn't panic, and eventually that paid off.

It's easy to forget Manly's record sans Turbo, but historically his absence is very significant so the big effort was necessary. Lehi was excellent. Credit to all the players (and coach) for that performance.

Turbo.

We never used to be able to win without a turbo charger..

Turbo. Was he out there?

looking where are you GIF by The Academy Awards

I wasn't even thinking about the patience's and composure.

And that's been this team greatest ever weakness in the last few years.

Your right, this team would not have just stuck with it, and kept playing with 0 v 0 after 30 mins when they've had all the ball, in years past.

Surprisingly that game just wasn't won up the middle.

I don't know if that's a coaching master class or how that came to be, or if I just need to re watch it again tomorrow.

But I just feel like we owned edges and not necessarily the middle today? Not that Raiders owned the middle either. I just feel like Guac and even Burbo were more dominant forwards today out wider.

What a win and we certainly did it for Beau. It seemed like a similar spirit to that game vs the Eels when Bozo died, but even more so tonight. Wish I could've been there but at least I got to see it (amongst some very subdued Raiders fans). Added to that, it was such an awesome win without Turbo.

It was always going to be difficult for the Raiders to overcome an emotional and inspired Manly side at a near full house Brookie, and they buckled under it all.

Sad about Paseka but it gives the next man up a chance to shine, maybe Sips or BFB.
Hope we can continue this ride next week.

A weird game. Raiders were pretty good I thought to hang in as long as they did.
Both teams were determined but Manly was very disciplined and Raiders were not at all.
Nice surprise to see a disciplined performance by Manly. I wasn't sure they had it in them! Now they know they can do it, hope they keep it up.

What a surprise. After the deliberate tactics of trying to lay all over us and slow us,down they got penalised for it shock, horror Ricky wasted his time coming to Brookvale because he doesn't know the rules. Well ain't that the truth. YOU CAN'T LAY ALL OVER THE FU*KING PLAYERS YOU TWAT !!!!

well for the first 20 min we went from side to side. sweeping plays that were a little clunky. we had all the possession and the ref was being very friendly.

The raiders D looked really solid until the sin bin and yes Garrick got over but then DCE went all aerial on their poor Weekes and the plan changed. DCE was epic on most of his kicks and general play from about the 25th min.
