Game Day: Manly v Raiders [Round 25, 2016]

Uh oh opening of flood gates although the Raiders would be silly to not take the foot off

The only thing Barrett has done wrong this game was to not bring Parcell on sooner. We've sent out a patched up reserve grade side against the 3rd best team in the comp. We were always going to lose.

Yeah our kick defense is a liability, no argument here. But that particular play was pretty lucky for them.
With all that time to set the defence and only 2 tackles there is a very simple strategy to execute. Hit the settler in numbers and make sure you put him on his arse (buying time). While that is happening, defensive players identifying the kicker options and preparing to rush him/them, putting pressure on the kick. None of that happened and it's just poor at this level with that sort of time to prepare. Parker having to deal with the kick itself was just the end of a very poorly thought out sequence. In fact, there was zero thought and strategy involved. Players just wanted to take a breather and didn't have their heads in it.
