NRL referees boss Tony Archer vows any cheating at ruck against Canberra Raiders will be punished

NRL referees boss Tony Archer spoke with Ricky Stuart and assures Canberra Raiders fans if the Manly Sea Eagles cheat at the ruck then the referees will penalise them.

Stuart has been frustrated by opposition teams splitting their markers to nullify his explosive ball runners out of dummy half.
Archer spoke to the Raiders coach this week in the lead up to their clash against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale on Sunday.

The refs boss said the ruck was an important area of the game, with the majority of penalties coming from that area.

Yes. It's the only reason the Faders lose. Opposition sides cheat.

We all know how filthy they were when we beat them last time. So an underhanded effort to get preferential treatment by the refs is not surprising to see.

The timing was very well executed by ricky the whiner that's for sure.

The irony seems to be lost on that pumpkin head that he thinks teams are using unfair tactics or 'cheating' against his team when this article clearly shows he is using an unfair tactic by trying to influence the referees.

What's more gutless is that he has to use the refs to do it. If I were a raider player I'd be disappointed that the coach doesn't think we're good enough to play Manly fairly and win...and that the coach has to try and get the refs to give me an unfair advantage.

As always, the media will lap it up without any probing questions regarding motivation and the refs will have their usual knee jerk reaction as who in the nrl hierarchy will care if Manly get ripped off? *allegedly*

Sea Eagles expect Canberra Raiders to put a target on back of Dylan Walker
Jon Geddes, Manly Daily
June 2, 2017 9:00pm

THE Sea Eagles expect their star centre Dylan Walker to be targeted by the Canberra Raiders in their return stoush at Lottoland tomorrow- and as far as they are concerned bring it on,

Walker was public enemy No. 1 in the national capital five weeks ago in the sides’ dramatic clash when he kicked a penalty to give the Sea Eagles a 20-18 golden point win.

The in-form back had several run-ins with Raiders players and got into their faces before and after he booted the matchwinning goal and when he missed a conversion attempt in the 76th that could have sealed a Manly win.

“I don’t think there is any secret that they are going to come out hard at Dylan,” said his Manly team mate Jackson Hastings.

But far from being intimidated, Hastings said Walker thrives in those kinds of situations.

“He is the sort of bloke who wants that challenge, he wants them to go after him,’ Hastings said.

“I think he lives for the confrontation and lives for the verbal. And I know the boys have got his back.”

With what happened in that previous game still fresh in the players’ minds, the stage is set for more fireworks tomorrow.

Hastings said you had to be out there at GIO Stadium to experience how fiery that first round game was.

I expect a massive sledge fest with loads of pushing and slapping.

FFS, just let them have a big barney, sort their **** out and get on with it!!

They claim fightings a bad look for the game, well tell me if what we have now is much better?

I know every game in this tight comp is important but gee looking at the compact ladder a win this weekend will really entrench us nicely into the 8! And given our poor record at home i think a strong win will give players coaches and fans alike a real boost. I sense that the Raiders are still seriously butt hurt losing to us last time and if we play really controlled commited footy i see us frustrating them into errors tbh. That first 20 minutes will be critical - if we complete our sets, kick astutely and continue to negate Leipana as much as possible a good win's on the cards. But we just have to worry about our own performance and ignore all the sledging and cheap shots we are no doubt gonna cop. A composed disciplined effort will get us the chocolates ladies and gents.

Win this week, Newcastle next week then a bye.

Tom Turbo played when we beat The Faders last time. I fear we won't have enough strike power to score sufficient points this Sunday. Fortunately, I've been wrong plenty of times before.

Let's hope you are wrong again!!!

Funny you say that because now we have a goal kicker in the team. Tommy scored right at the end in that game through support play. If Write dose dose his job at the back we will be a massive chance. Manly by 8 🙂
