NRL Casualty Ward: Cleary eyes finals after avoiding surgery

Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary won't require immediate surgery on his injured shoulder and looks set to be available for the finals series.

Sea Eagles prop Matt Lodge has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, after scans revealed he ruptured his ACL in the Round 23 loss to the Roosters.

Sean Keppie (back) heads up as a major inclusion in Round 24.

Well, we've been subjected to every negative stat, and made to feel miserable for supporting Manly throughout the week, so let me start off (after Sir Jethro, of course) by saying...

Phew...lucky the nrl stepped in to help the poor ole panthers out....


Penrith Panthers has received an exemption from the NRL to add hooker Luke Sommerton to the NRL squad to face Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on Thursday night.

Sommerton joins the squad after starting hooker Mitch Kenny and five-eighth Jarome Luai were ruled out of the Round 24 clash.

Kenny drops out of the squad after failing to complete captain’s run on Wednesday morning, while Luai has been ruled out by the medical staff due to illness.

Panthers will update the squad to 19 players 24 hours prior to kick-off.
