The salary cap for 2025 is $11.4m for the 30 highest remunerated players at each club plus up to $0.3 million Veteran and Developed Player allowance and a $0.1 million Motor Vehicle allowance.

Using figures from ZeroTackle (I don't know how accurate they are but it's a starting point):

DCE $1m
Jake $1m
Turbo $1.2m
Brooks $700k
Haumole $900k
Paseka $600k

Total $5.4m - $300k V&DPA & $100k MVA = $5m

Remainder = $6.4m divided by 24 players = $266,666.66k average salary per player.

Remember Garrick's supposed to be on a good wage, as is Koula, plus they recently upgraded & extended Lehi, & I think Saab is on $400k+.

Is it that hard to see why we are weak in some areas?
No, but it is equally hard to see how the storm have no weaknesses when man for man they have us covered everywhere bar maybe Turbo when fit, though that’s still debatable vs paps. We certainly aren’t getting bang for our bucks across the board.

Brisbane Broncos have Walsh on over 1 million, Haas on 1 Million, Carrigan on 850k, Stags on 650k, Cobbo on 700k, Reynolds 600k, Hunt 600k.
Melbourne Have Munster on 1 million, Pappy 1 million, Grant 850k, Coates 650k, Utoikamanu 800k, NAS 750k, etc..
Penrith have Cleary 1.3, Edwards 850k, Yeo, 850k, Too 750k, Tago 700k, Martin 800k, Leota 750k, Papalii 600k, etc
There are many more examples I could use. How do they then manage to add players like Cory Paix, Corey Jensen, Brendan Piakura, Jordan Riki, Billy Walters, Kobe Hetherington, Xavier Willison, Ben Te Kura, Deine Mariner, Jesse Arthurs, even Shibasaki is killing it and Gojetski is playing decent.

How do Penrith keep Garner, Sorenson, Henry, Smith, Kenny etc. Then they identify talent in other teams like Alamoti and Talagi.

I'm sick of hearing the excuses. Other teams manage to do it.

Here's a task. Name one other club who has made more old man signings than us.

In a squad with many deficiencies is the fact We only have 1 first grade quality 2nd rower the biggest oversight?

Burbo is playing terribly, I can’t even des potential

We need to sign an edge, stat.
We should play Talau there Burbo is not up to it

Watch for Gutho to get into dummy half and run amok through our lumbering plodders all night.
He's definitely gonna be heavily involved. They have a good pack alot better than ours and have a real 9 leading them. We can get them in the halves and need to use Ola all night running at flanno or the other half. I have no idea why we didn't get flanno over Seibold LOL he is a great coach instead we have this pretender

We can only sign what our favoured player managers bring to us. We don’t appear to have any talent identification, scouting or recruitment to think of. I think once Crusher retired we have just made the position redundant and outsourced to Isaac Moses et al.

Strong Dragons backrow, obvious good level centres if given opportunities .
Not sure how much Gutho is offering from the back these days .
If Manly can have some reasonable control on the tempo of the game and aim up in defence , maybe able to get best value out of their undoubted attacking ability again .
Still think that Lehi has to be used to better effect in attack but the whole attacking approach has to lift a bit .
Definitely can not allow the Dragons to get on a bit of a roll at any extent ,otherwise could make it a tough night to right the ship again
Gutho is the number 1 fullback in the comp at the moment or thereabouts. Top 3 easy. And he always plays very well against us. Last week they used him to great effect as a decoy. Smart coaching and good go forward. Tough game for us I'd be surprised if we don't get belted

In Spoons media talk today he said he was happy with the teams performance in Perth before going on to state how we can't train much because we are playing five games in 25 days, This guy is Barrett mk 2.

Someone should ask him if this is the “chaos” he spent the offseason preparing the team for, and if so, it’s no excuse. Unless they could have better spent the offseason hitting the sand hills, practicing how to tackle and maybe one or two attacking plays that don’t rely entirely on Turbo.

Unfortunately, we will win tomorrow night and if Turbo manages to play the second half of the year we'll win more than we lose. Spoon will likely see out his contract before eventually being replaced. We won't be winning a competition under his coaching. He's not ruthless enough and just doesn't have that win at all costs mentality. When was the last time a new age cuddle coach won a title?

Answer: Never

Or our weapons on the edge.

I don't think this would be different for any other team in the NRL, with the same travel. Maybe for NQLD or NZ, where it's necessary, but otherwise I think other coaches would do the same. Of all things to call Seibold out on this isn't it. Picking Sipley is.

Wouldn't get to excited about Gutho, they got hammerd and had 50 put on them.

No, we have a great set play there. Someone passes the ball to Ola while he is standing still, and says “here you go big fella, do your best”. He then proceeds to drag half the opposition to within inches of the try line, and from the next tackle, we kick it dead or into touch off a winger. The opposition starts a seven tackle set from the quarter and we proceed to play on the back foot from there, displaying our steely resolve in defence to limit the opposition to 50-60 metres a set. When we finally get the ball back, DCE try’s a 3rd tackle kick to Saab on the wing, usually resulting in a turnover in mid field.
