BUGGER!! .. I was hoping .... given some of the posts over the past 2 days .... that there wouldn't be anyone who could count to 10 ... .. @Zimbalist had lulled me into a false sense of security .... I forgot about you SER8. ... just insert the words "so far" ....

My cumbersome point however .... is how many of this current mob would make a starting 13 ... even over just 9 years .....

...and therefore ... what have/are our expectations of them .....

Expectations too high !

Plenty of talent in our side but not the steel across the board nor the coaching nouse to consistently win NRL games.
I was reading a couple of weeks ago people waxing lyrical and talking up Barrett big time for his role in recruiting and how the guys getting a go were stepping up, how solid the top 30 look etc yet now we are supposed to believe his get out of jail free card is the roster is no good. It was fine to have expectations after beating Brisbane and Melbourne and all the new guys were “stepping up “ but now we are supposed to excuse this rubbish because our expectations were too high. Can’t have it both ways.

The real rubbish you refer to as having been dished up in posts is not the stuff of the last couple of days ;it’s the stuff backslapping and excusing a bloke week after week who has gone 13th, 7th, spoon contenders in 3 lamentable years, whose teams invariably start games flat and rarely, if ever, seem to have even the most basic strategies. The grubbers for touch while behind and midfield uncontested bombs charade on Thursday that went on the whole game ( which must have been a plan as the tomfoolery went the entire game and the coach actually addresses them at half time )is the single most ridiculous kicking game given the conditions and state of the game that I have ever seen in 40 years watching footy.Bar none. And if DCE , Hodko were ignoring SuperCoaches instructions to lay on that kicking Masterclass then that’s an even worse scenario.

The blokes dishing it out to Barrett have been a lot closer to the mark than those excusing good old “BAZ” every week. Indeed the Barrett knockers were roundly ridiculed for hsving the temerity to knock the great man. That was the real rubbish.

Bottom line is this overstated injury excuse is giving Barrett cover. All our key players other than Dylan play basically every week. And their is some exceptional talent among those key players. We have seven or eight average ubiquitous second rowers with similar talents who make up the injured list and the master coach hardly use backrowers anyway.Lane and Thompson are the best of them and have played EVERY game anyway.Tanginoa is about the only one of the others who is above average. Not ideal but a few injuries to average players does not mean you throw the toys out of the cot and don’t play with a plan.

Throw in this garbage with Matt Wright /Brown playing backup hooker/ utility. The reason ain’t injuries. It’s brcause someone thought it would be a good idea to have no specialist hooker as back up at all for Api in the top roster for the last couple of years,to pick Mr Invisible Funa over Fainu in the 30, to put the forever useful Jono Wright in a three quarter laden top roster for two years and to enter into a two man war with our only real makeshift hooker option in Hastings.

Geez it’s actually some of the TOP sides who have had injuries/ suspensions to KEY players for decent periods.Souths ( Reynolds / Burgess) Panthers ( Edwards / Cleary/McKendry/Mansour etc) Warriors ( Johnson /Harris /Luke /Mannering etc ) Sharks ( Gallen Wade Dugan Lewis) The good coaches mould their game plans around who is available anyway.

Forget Brad Arthur ,Barrett is the most protected coach in the media. F...ing Teflon. And all this with a sweetheart draw. Have a look at what the tigers faced over the opening rounds!!.Thats the real kicker. 10 out of 13 against bottom eight sides. Now we play the contenders.

I’m off to Christchurch this week and believe me right now I have Zero expectations that I will be witnessing a side that is both fired up and with an obvious strategy to beat a big well performed Warriors side and it ****s me to tears.THAT is the coaches role.To deliver a motivated side with a plan to the field. If you lose after that so be it.

Its not the losses. It’s the flat illdisciplined haphazard way we lose which hurts because that takes hope for the future out of the equation.

JWH makes it on the back of half a dozen games ??? That's a big wrap on guys like King, Perry, and AFB.

Hopoate was incredible whenever he played wing or centre in 2011. A breakout rookie season from DCE and himself, as well as a rejuvenated Joe G, went a fair way in helping us win the 2011 premiership
