If anybody can get it done it's PV, and if it happens it will be an indictment on local leaders such as:
Abbott, Baird, Hazzard and Stokes
who have failed to deliver anything but hollow promises.
These four politicians have, at one time or another, been the most powerful decision-makers in Australia and NSW. Brookie has been "a priority" they parroted.
Yeah, Na!
The council are the ones who poo poo everything unless it's a big unit development or rates hike...

Get the mob who built the Warringah hospital to built it.
It will be built in no time - well before the local council even wake up

If it helps..err... re-centre things- there's an article in the SMH saying it was ex ref's Annersley's idea about the one ref.

Annesley, the former referee and current NRL head of football, handed a report to the ARL Commission chairman six weeks ago about returning to the one-referee model.

He then took the idea to Project Apollo, where former Balmain international Wayne Pearce suggested bringing in the six-again rule for ruck infringements.

The difference is V'Landys had the balls to implement it immediately.

Do u think Toddy or Beattie would have done the same with the same swiftness - no.

Something in the Herald behind the paywall.
'It's our turn': Manly say Brookvale should be first in line for stadium spending
The club's dilapidated home ground has been constantly overlooked when upgrade funds have been handed out. The Sea Eagles chairman hopes that will finally change.

there is a genuine feeling that Vlandys understands the game and its fans much better than others have. They seemed to feel they were bigger than the game that it was something to be ruled and coerced and tweaked in ways that were un-natural to the game. They seemed to run it in a police state, police everything and heavily handed. Vlandys seems to be much more of an understand what makes the game great and nurture those things

Manly chairman Scott Penn believes the club should be the first beneficiary of any investment into suburban grounds, saying every home game would be a sellout in a new facility.

Lottoland is in desperate need of funds and an opportunity has arisen after the NSW government aborted plans for an $810 million revamp of ANZ Stadium. ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys has long been an advocate of boutique grounds and hopes funds can be diverted towards three or four “mini Bankwest Stadiums”<Manly set for Lottoland jackpot under V'landys 'mini-Bankwest' plan>.

The news has been warmly received by Sea Eagles majority owner Penn, who said Brookvale should be the first venue to benefit.

“Absolutely,” Penn told the Herald from New York. “We’ve been the longest that have gone without. We’ve been very patient and respectful of the process, so I’d like to think we’d be rewarded for that.

“More importantly, it’s needed. I don’t think anybody would begrudge us. Parramatta Stadium was only 25 years old and they got a brand new stadium.

“Lottoland is 70 years old. It’s our time.

“Peter is very aware of that, he understands other grounds have had significantly more funding. We’re confident that with a new stadium, we could pack it every game. No question.

“Right now we don’t have that facility to seat people. We have been incredibly patient to stand on the hill and look into the sun.

“We’re certainly excited about the prospect of being able to deliver the type of stadium they deserve.”

Funding for a centre of excellence and a new grandstand for Lottoland’s northern hill has been committed, with work scheduled to begin later this year. The master plan is structured in a way that would allow for a total stadium rebuild in the future without affecting the initial upgrades.

Penn said a new stadium would secure the long-term future of the club on the northern beaches.

“Absolutely, it’s something we’ve been pushing hard for a long time,” he said.

“We are very much of the view that it's a tribal game and we know our friends on the northern beaches don’t like to travel too far.

“Anything upgraded elsewhere just wouldn’t serve a purpose. If there is now an opportunity to revisit a suburban-ground strategy and have a purpose-built ground for 20,000, that would be befitting a modern-day NRL club.

“We have been unwavering in our desire to have that. We’ll continue to have dialogue over how we can bring that to life collectively in a way that is affordable and creates jobs.

“The government is looking for shovel-ready projects right now and we have a centre of excellence that is about to start later this year.

“We could very quickly get to a shovel-ready project for the bigger plan.”

Add to shortlist

The Herald revealed this week the NRL may not be content just to play in new stadiums, it is also exploring ownership opportunities<NRL considers stadium ownership options>. The move would create an asset base to futureproof the code against unforeseen challenges such as the coronavirus outbreak.

The Sea Eagles face the Eels at Bankwest Stadium on Saturday night. Penn said much could be gleaned from the success their arch-rivals had enjoyed with their new ground.

“They had the benefit of content, with Parramatta and the [Western Sydney] Wanderers playing over there,” Penn said.

“We’re confident that with time, we’d be able to encourage other people to play out of Lottoland. We’ve already got interest in rugby, but we think there’s potentially interest from soccer.

“There’s no reason why we couldn’t, over time, find other content for the stadium. That’s really important.

“On a week-to-week basis, having a suburban sellout crowd of 15-20,000 is perfect. That gives the fans a great experience and the broadcasters a great atmosphere to show.”

Noice!

PS:
Although he also says....

“Right now we don’t have that facility to seat people. We have been incredibly patient to stand on the hill and look into the sun."

I thought you yobbos likes staring into the sun standing on the hill? didn't think so!!!! lol

FFS ~sigh~

Unless they build a proper new 20K four sided stadium & roof like a mini BankWest, better off leaving the hill alone, re-build the other three sides and update the terrace seats on the western side.

Sitting in an unroofed western side stand like Penrith & Campbelltown in the hot sun will be much worse than the current grass hill at Brookie.

The hill isn't the problem. Its putting average games on winter nights instead of Sundary arvo at 3pm. Its awful toilets, bar and food facilities. Poor transport options. Its leaving huge gaping tracks of open grass on the hill where no one is allowed to sit for so called safety. These are Brookie's problems. Fans don't mind standing on the hill for 2 hours ffs.

If Sir Pete pulls this off ... it's official .... he's running the State ....

On a side issue .... I read today the council wants to erect a $1.7 million dollar Statue to commenerate the Northern Beaches handling of the Coronavirus ..... FMD ... not one death on the Northern Beaches and the Council wish to honour our brave fight as though we endured 12 months of daily German bombing during the blitz .... all the time asking for rate rises ...

WTF are you voters on the Beaches doing !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'll believe it when I see the mock up architects model fashioned from paddlepop sticks

It'd be awesome if they can pull it off - I think they will need to mount a case for multi use to justify it. Could they get the Rats to play there or get some A-League games happening ??
