I was replying to the OP and the idea that we could take out the premiership this year.

Since we're chatting, I agree with you, it would be the greatest achievement of all our premierships, given how unexpected it would be.

Blake Green while arguably playing well has the defense of Jamie Soward in his rookie year, I'm not sold on Brian Kelly either

I'm going to assume Melbourne belt us and take the title to give another fairytale ending, for Cronk

Next year Green should be somewhere not at manly while Cullen or preferably Hastings with DCE and the team to set a record in points scored for a single season

I'd like to think we are a chance, but we are only as good as the team on the paddock, and now losing Jorge, Miles, and a few injuries kicking in, I honestly believe we are going to come up short. We can beat anyone on their day, but not putting Wests and Newcastle away convincingly has me wondering. And if we struggle with the Dragons, god help us when we take on Melbourne and the Roosters. I think we are a year from seriously making a fist of this.

Can go close - have a few areas less than other top 8 sides, but on the positive....parts of Manlys game are better than any and most importantly, have more improvement than any other team - definately give it a shake....shades of 2006-2007 imo, but can rewrite the last chapter in 2017.

I backed us at $38 and $30 on Betfair but still not at all confident with our skinny roster.

However I will be disappointed if don't make the last 4 and play in a GF qualifier.

I love the Steven Bradbury story .. the real one ... it should be the one told. How he went to 4 Olympics, at times was no. 1 in the world. Got taken out so many times. Had injuries so bad he was told to never skate again. Through absolute perseverance and of course luck he wins the Olympic gold. He was one of the top designer and builder of speed skates in the world at the time!!
Back to topic. We have got to where we are through a great team efforts. It may not be enough to win another premiership but gee it has made me feel good this year.

I've done the ladder thing, honestly ( so not with the Manly cap on) and I agree.

To think we could beat say the Donkeys in Brisbane ( in a final ) or perhaps the Drizzle in Melbourne is a bridge too far !

Top order and solid defence and particularly the capacity for sustained defensive efforts is a key ingredient that also seems a necessary requirement for any serious title contender . Fortunately this present Manly team in most games this season have demonstrated that they do this important trait . Last Sunday , Manly"s defensive effort was a little down but the previous week against the Panthers, their defensive resolve was outstanding . Again this team definitely has this required characteristic for a crack for the title this year . Also good to see the brief interview with A P I on N R L 360 last night when he was taking up the side"s chances and which does show some genuine self belief in the team .
