Manly Sea Eagles backline taking shape

GOING into this off-season, replacing Manly’s champion backline loomed as one of the biggest recruiting challenges in the NRL.

While the Sea Eagles had done well to pick up a much needed five-eighth (the Storm’s Blake Green) after a disastrous initial attempt to find a successor for Kieran Foran, Trent Barrett and Bob Fulton faced the huge task of overcoming the retirement of Jamie Lyon and uncertainty around the futures of Steve Matai and Brett Stewart.

I think Kelly will take the other wing spot. Centre is the spot left to take, I'd say it's between Locke and Parker.

I don't see Locke as a centre at all. If he plays in our first 17 it will be on the wing; however, most likely as back-up to Tom T. I think they might see Kelly as the centre.

With the amount of hit-ups the wingers do these days I would want someone with a bit more size than Locke on the wing..

Just imagine if Snake comes back as well.

At least Uate has size and runs hard

According to the MWSE Kelly doesn't start until 2018, I'll believe he's with us when we get a training photo, until then he's a Titan.

Quoted from his manager.
In the Gold Coast Bully. And I'm sure I heard it on Fox.

"They’ve come and said we want him in 2018-19 but if we get him now, he’ll play first grade here in 2017,’’ Kelly’s manager Tas Bartlett said."

Thanks, good to hear sounds like he could be a goodun!!!

I can live with Parker/Kelly covering the other centre spot should Matai hang up the boots as looks likely.

Both look very talented prospects who will see plenty of NRL time over the next 10 years.

The one who doesn't make it can cover the outside backs and keep the pressure on them.
