Kingyfan's post earlier got me wondering how our blokes stack up in terms of missed tackle percentages. NRL stats are only up to 9 rounds and a few blokes haven't even played that so its not entirley accurate representation. It gives a good insight into who are our best defenders though.

1. Breant Kite: 205 Tackles - 6 Missed - 2.92%

2. Luke Williamson: 255 Tackles - 8 Missed - 3.13%

3. George Rose: 135 Tackles - 7 Missed - 5.18%

4. Jason King: 193 Tackles - 11 Missed - 5.69%

5. Glen Stewart: 279 Tackles - 16 Missed - 5.73%

6. Matt Ballin: 202 Tackles - 12 Missed - 5.94

7. Mark Bryant: 131 Tackles - 8 Missed - 6.10%

8. Jamie Lyon: 157 Tackles - 10 Missed - 6.36%

9. Glen Hall: 110 Tackles - 7 Missed - 6.36%

10. Anthony Watmough: 231 Tackles - 18 Missed - 7.79%

11. Steven Bell: 111 Tackles - 9 Missed - 8.10%

12. Travis Burns: 154 Tackles - 14 Missed - 9.09%

13. Miacheal Monaghan: 216 Tackles - 30 Missed - 13.88%

14. Matt Orford: 66 Tackles - 12 Missed - 18.18%

15. Michael Robertson: 23 Tackles - 5 Missed - 21.73%

16. Chris Hicks: 18 Tackles - 4 Missed - 22.22%

17. Brett Stewart: 33 Tackles - 8 Missed - 24.24%

18. Steve Matai: 10 Tackles - 3 Missed - 30%

Missed tackles are not counted toward the tackle count.

There are games where blokes have 5 missed tackles and only 2 tackles to their name. It's usually wingers who don't get involved, but have a couple of tries scored on their wing.

Those stats aren't totally up to date Flip. And I know this is going to be late and all that, especially after the effort you've gone to calculate that stuff, but the best up to date link to get that stuff (which you can get to through nrlstats.com) is http://203.20.74.147/NRL07/index.html

It's the 'detailed stats and reports' section of NRL stats. Open to the public and all, but a little bit hidden in a way.

It's more up to date than the main sections anyway.

Interesting that Lyon's defensive stats are better than burn's. And Lyon is a lot better than burns in attack,

Interesting stats those... As they say... stats are like mini skirts, what they show is great, but what they hide is more important.
I think most would agree that Monas would be one of the best tacklers in the team, therefore having him as our worst defensive forward I find a little bit misleading...
Interesting nonetheless...

I think the Monas apologists like to think of him as good defensively.

It's clear he's something of a liability and this is bound to be targetted if it isn't already.

While I wouldn't call myself a fan of monas, I always saw him as a very good defensive player and has one of the best tackling techniques in the team, Beaver excluded. It's funny how people seem to see what they want to see.
In any case, I'm happy to see him move on.

Mata, monas has not played in the forwards for a fair few games this year.

A realist would have said its impressive that all our forwards are above the 90% effectiveness KPI.

Id worry about your turnstyle messiah first.

Interesting?? Depends who you talk to KF ;)

Some still can't see that Lyon is a better option at 6. They'll have to now.
