Manly last in the betting for the 9's

1969

Bencher
Matt Wright in the team and we are 26/1, then he gets injured, bring in Walker, and we blow like a porn star to 51/1???

Cowboys are $4 favs (JT added)

Titans are $11 (Hayne added)

Manly are $51 favs for the spoon (lucky they don't have one, but coming last would be embarrassing)

How deflating....

have heard whispers that some stars will play a few minutes in one of the games to tick the box in order to minimize risk, cleary was mentioned on MMM yesterday, maybe we are also in that boat

I don't follow the betting but I think we were 26/1 before Parra and Warriors named their teams. Both are serious about winning this comp and have named strong squads.

To beat Parra we will have to score 50 points because Raddradradra and French will be almost unstoppable in this form of the game.

I wonder what price the 'Riff are, as they have stated their opposition to the tournament and can't be treating it as serious.

Think our Pool is tough....its a strange game where experience in this format counts for plenty and I think a couple of the Manly youngsters will shine - enough to compete with NZ....will go close in that first game - Cows and Brisbane look pretty hot and on paper - too good....along with Eels in our Pool...of course!

I am gonna have $20 on them.

Its a lottery if you ask me.
Definitely a lottery. It really comes down to just how much training each team has done for it, and i don't believe just looking at the teams more stacked with big names and calling them favourites is the way to do it. Any rep players would only be a month into training, and i doubt much / if any focus of that would be on 9's. So there's no reason a squad of no-name / fringe NRL players who may have had more dedicated sessions can't cause a stir. I really don't see us making it past pool stage, probably just one win, but i also wouldn't be surprised if caused a few upsets either.

Look at the squad and we ain't playing our Stars. If that makes us 51/1 great. Just quietly with having 3 no names who have played unions format of this game at the highest level. We might just shock plenty. I got on us in the twenties. Now in the fifties. Time to find some more coin.

Our team isn't as strong as our competitors and barret prob won't play walker big minutes.

So 50 to 1 is a harsh but I can see why we are long odds.

Is anyone taking bets on how long it will take for 3/4 of the crowd to disappear after the Warriors last game of the first day?

Absolutely. Could not be less interested. I'd rather go shoe shopping with the wife. At least I'd be a chance at a cappuccino which would keep me awake whereas the 9's.....:snooze:

Whhhhaaaoaooooh there mate.

There's exaggerating a story then there's just clinical insanity.

I'd rather sit through a game of AFL than go shopping with the ball and chain.

Wowsers.

No one remembers the winner of the nines. Couldn't care less if we don't win a game as long as we get out of the circus injury free. It's a gimmick competition

Freddie piss head Fittler has labelled former coach Phil Gould a “dinosaur” for not supporting the Nines concept and says that Nines will be the top game in the future

I agree with Phil Gould and also Gus has a better football brain then blind drunk Freddie

Perfect result

Any of our top 17 play 3 minutes , jogging on our 25 line whilst the opposition run through.

The rest do their bit, lose 3 straight and we are on the 4.30pm Qantas flight home on day 1!

Seriously , who gives a ****!!!

To survive, it (the 9s), must be standalone from the NRL Premiership i.e. different players .... its obvious fans and clubs don't want their players injured before the comp starts, so like it or not, it should be treated like the rah rah 7's as a totally separate setup. It and or NRL will survive or not.
