Manly has two of the most outstanding young backs in the NRL comp

Did you watch the last round of 2018 Danny?
Was like a defender free zone out wide.
He does not t have the physical attributes to match blokes like Masters and Mitchell.
All the effort in the world doesn’t help when you are totally outgunned for strength and pace.
I think you are a bit harsh mate .
One bad game does not make or break a young player .
Physical attributes ? In his debut game he marked Warriors giant Manu Vatuvei and kept him quite all game . Cant get a tougher assignment than that
I agree he lacks genuine speed but the red head does not lack heart or strength
Most on here are stuck one last seasons debacle where our whole team played like wooden spooners and any good judge will tell you that we are a better team than a wooden spoon team .
2019 is a new season . Lets judge our players after a few games in 2019 .
.

Im not basing it on one game boz.The guy has been running around for three seasons. I watch every Manly match and quite a few live despite living on GC. Brad is a trier but simply gets rag dolled to often and lacks speed to cope with guys who get outside him.
The ironic thing is the people who wrap him are the ones focusing on one game , the one you happened to mention against Manu. Other than that he has never dominated in defence and has come up with plenty of errors and has neither the speed nor step to worry defences in attack.
If he gets picked in the centres by Des, who is a great coach, it will mean he is the best we have for that position and that is the scary bit.But with Dylan gone it was always going to be our Achilles heel. Fingers crossed I suppose.

It’s not a matter of not liking him.He has a go every week but is short of first grade.Just big time worried about our season now Dylan is out. And I hope you are right and we improve out wide. If those two guys prove me wrong we can make the eight. I spend enough cash flying to and from Sydney to watch the boys go around so I’m hoping like hell im wrong.

I’m a bit more pragmatic than most but really admire the effervescence of the Bozo. High expectations with an average roster means fans can get very unhappy very quickly. Des will get us there but this side will look a lot different than what it is now. We have five or six absolute stars, some serious juniors coming through so the base is there. Just need to find two or three players at prop , 5/8 and three quarters and we can contend. That will take time and everyone needs to be patient. Unlike last year we now have hope.

I find being less enthusiastic means it’s not as big a let down when it doesn’t work.

If Parker and Suli surprise it will make for a much more enjoyable year ( I don’t see we have too many more options) but I’m expecting them to be the weakest link(s) and where most of our attack will be aimed.

Hope I’m wrong.

Mate I can understand your concerns .
But let us look at our strengths and build our selves up from there instead of Catastrophizing things and looking down the ladder
Our spine that consists of Turbo DCE and Api /Fainu Is very impressive so we are not spineless
Our forwards are led by elite and world class players in Jake and Kappow and are also one of the biggest packs in the NRL comp so we will not be push overs
Dylan maybe out for now but there is hope he will be joining a back line that includes the mega star Tom,the experienced and brutal Jorge the Young powerhouse giant with plenty of potential Suli , the other speedster in Garrick , The X factor and exciting Hoppa . Funa is another player of promise
and our mate Parker may not set the world on fire but he has the ability to add stability to our back line
I Have big hopes for Elgey and I am a huge fan of Cust as well as all the other players in our squad

Des has plenty of mouth watering ingredients to work with and bake himself a semi finals cake . All us fans need to do is to add a little faith into our Manly team and the semi finals recipe is complete.
By the way mate I am very impressed that you fly to Sydney to watch our Sea eagles play . Which part of the world are you from ?

Mate there is a saying , What a difference a day makes ( let alone a season) , and we all know What a difference a COMPETENT and EXPERIENCED , PROVEN coach can make .

We have all been wrong because we all decided to take on the crystal ball .

There is every chance both Suli and Parker will surprise otherwise Des would not put all his experience and faith in them .

Des is known to be big on game tapes and meticulously scrutinizes every player and at every play , so he must be on to something
I also would not be surprised if Des was also big on sex tapes at home as well

Gold Coast Bozo. Probably get to 7 or 8 games a year in Sydney and always the Broncos Titans up here.Lived in Manly for 10 years in the 80s 90s.

Mate you are a true Manly Legend . You fly like a passionate Manly Sea eagle all the way from the Glod Coast to Sydney . That is Gold !!!

Manly people like you are the pulse of our great club . A real inspiration .

I might sound a bit excited but when you live in a suburb where every one hates Manly and walk the streets alone in a Manly gear , it is hard not to feel a little overwealmed when you hear from passionate Manly supporters like you

Being at the game especially at Brookvale and seeing an army of Manly people cheering for our team is exhilarating to say the least .

Our Godfather lives up your way . Have you spotted him at all ?

Actually if they hold onto them, Manly has two of the cream of juniors in their ranks in Albert Hopoate and Josh Schuster. If these kids kick on, with the Trbojevic clan and Cherry, we have a potential premiership in a couple of years

His best game was against easts a couple years back at brookie, when we beat them. Looked great that day at left centre, but has been poor since.

I remember that game mate and this proves what the Red head is capable of . He has had a couple of injuries that had him sidelined for long periods as well as playing in a team without winning form or confidence
.

Interesting to read in the signings thread that sione hoppa has now signed with blacktown, after his mission. I recall he had great potential

He was in the forwards last year, backrow, but has such amazing ball skills he is now at 6.
If what I read is correct a potential superstar.

Somehow we MUST keep him, absolute tragedy if we do all the leadup amd he becomes a Rorter!

Five eighth or lock. He's got Cliffy silkiness. Looks very promising from what I've seen. Knows when to pass and when to score (has scored a try each game so far this season and set up a truck load of others from 5/8)

Sounds like we have our selves a star of the future . How do you compare him with Foran at the same age ?

How do you compare him with Foz at the same age ?
I saw Foran play when he was 17/18 as he went to my son's school at North Sydney. He was tough, quite nippy, and very determined. He's not a big guy but could take the hits and was strong in defence. I was a little surprised that he went as far as he did in the sport because he didn't seem to have the footwork and guile of great backs, such as Phil Blake. I think it was his mongrel and competitive spirit that got him to the top, and when he reached First Grade he was playing with a lot of Superstars.
I've watched Schuster only a couple of times in the flesh but several times on video. He is much bigger than Foran; probably too big to be a 5/8. He is built more like Jake Turbo. But he has similar skills to the great 5/8th like Cliffy and Fittler. He uses his bulk to break tackles, then will offload to a speedier player. He is always trying to do something with the ball. For me he should become better than Foran, but it will be as a lock in the mould of Malcolm Reilly. Now, if you ever saw Reilly, you saw one of the greatest players ever because he was brutal and skilful. If he ever gets near to Reilly on the biggest football stage then we'll all be delighted. I dare say he will be scouted by many clubs.
Of course, a lot of young players never fulfil their potential. Liam Knight is one example, although he still has a chance to become something special.

Suburb pffffftttt, @Sue and I live in a state where everyone hates us hahahaha! Highlight of the year was the haters having to cheer as DCE came in Game 3 and stopped the SOO bluewash! Especially "that" try he scored!

PS: not sure what's worse though mate, you surrounded by Rabbitohs or me with Broncos. Fans of both clubs as painful as each other!
